The Olifant variant will obviously be a premium, while the Arjun will be free in the tech tree. Perfect! I must say, the community’s request for more native tanks has been heard. Great job, Gaijin, as always, a job done with nothing but the wallet in mind!

There is no unanimous “community” opinion that Commonwealth vehicles shouldn’t be added. I, for one, love the addition of more unique South African, Indian, and Australian vehicles to the tech tree, and hope more come in the future (specifically looking forward to the Arjun Mk. 1A and Al-Hussein Falcon)
Just a little bit of a shame the Optimum is a premium, but that does leave other ~10.0-ish vehicles as tech tree options, including unique British designs — the Vickers Mk. 4, for one. You would think the people clamouring for domestic British designs only would actually be fine with the South African design being a premium.

Yep. Although the elephant decal was amusingly not used by the sPz.Jgr.Abt 653 and 654. Instead, it was used by sPz.Abt. 502, a unit equipped with Tigers (IIRC the very first to receive them).
End of the day, you don’t need a connection to actual elephants to use them as imagery lmao

I never said that a vehicle from a sub-tree shouldn’t be added, or that it shouldn’t be added as a premium, or did I? My point was simply that while there have been requests for native vehicles to be included in the tech tree, these end up being placed behind a paywall or offered as event vehicles (personally, I have them, but others might not have managed to get them, take the CVR, for example). My mention of the Arjun was intended to highlight exactly this. Personally, I love Commonwealth vehicles. I don’t see how you reached the conclusion, based on what I wrote, that I didn’t want them included.

But the Optimum isn’t in the tech tree, and the Arjun is totally irrelevant to this… I don’t see how the sarcastic comment, complaining about British vehicles being locked behind paywalls while Commonwealth vehicles are in the tech tree (just not true, but we can argue about that all day) can be read as anything other than being upset the Optimum is being added at all.
We physically cannot gauge it. The guy who made the turret armour died 5 years ago, LIW (Company that made it) destroyed the documents and anything left is classified for the next 50 years. Sources we have says “2A5 levels” which is ambiguous at best.
Only way to get more info is finding another LIW engineer who worked on the project.
