But like… Why the Venezuelan MKV? Why not the Algerian MKA? Algeria seems like a pretty logical Soviet subtree considering the closeness and military cooperation of the two countries

because you dont know the differences between them
first of all we have the Su-30MK2 and not MKV
second off all the Su-30MKA would be top tier and not 13.3, becasue it is derived from the Su-30SM/MKI
so N011M radar, canards, TVC, r-77-1
while the Su-30MK2 is still close to being a Su-27UB with guided A2G munitions
so N001 radar, no canards, no thrust vectoring and no r77’s on all wing pylons
What’s even funnier is that there is no real reason for it to be specifically Venezuelan. We have Russian M2 and Vietnam MK2V which are pretty much exactly the same aircraft.
Gaijin’s just cashing in on that certain geopolitical affair over the Caribbean. They did it with the Su-34 vs Patriot reenactment in the reveal trailer. They say “no politics” except when it makes Russia look good or makes them money because of the hype around Venezuela vs US.
