Another option the USSR could’ve gotten was the MIG-AT
as i mentioned in one of our previous convos, defo licensing issues. once you got license for leopard 2A4, its easier to add as much of them to the game as you can, because its cheaper since you dont have to license entirely new design.
(little bit of offtopic rant but not really, does anyone remember the WWII strategy game RUSE made by Ubisoft somewhere around 2011? it had unique gameplay aspect of employing various ruses onto the battlefield, such as radio silence, camouflage nets, decoy units etc. It was pulled from steam store in 2015 precisely because its licenses for the military vehicles expired and ubisoft didnt renew them).
see i dont have issues when vehicle from operator country that will probably not have its own TT or subtree in foreseeable future in its development (hopefully as is the case with Czechoslovakia currently) gets added to the TT that either exported vehicle to them or they had part in its development (not the case with czechoslovakia).
Columbian Kfir? well its kfir afterall, makes sense for it to go to israel.
Al Khalid? well its a chinese tank afterall, makes sense for it to go to china.
then of course we get to canada, australia, even spain which are all over the place.
(fun fact, theres british Grant in the US TT that was added before UK was a thing IIRC, also the chinese LVT which predates the chinese TT by some two or three years. theres also chinese ZTQ in russia which was addded around the same time. or Merkavas in the US TT, last one predating the introduction of israel TT by some two years).
anyway back to the topic at hand. literally any other soviet or russian plane couldve been added. the version of albatros exported to russia with russian insignias couldve been added, since they used L-39s.
Tbh, I would be fine waiting longer for trees if it ment more vehicles can be licensed.
Was tempted to make a thread in the dev server section akin to the OSA and strela the UK players asked for but thought it might be a bit much for me to ask given I have done a lot of “gib copy paste” for the last few patches which gaijin allowed and would be greedy xD
I also dont know enough about the different models to really nudge 1. Though I do suggest others might want to make 1, it would let gaijin know theres interest.
The Thailand L-39 is the exact same as the Czech, the ZA, not entirely sure about the Romanian but I remember someone saying it was also the ZA, but I could be misremembering that
you know how players are. “where X, gib X, why wasnt X implemented yet”.
How are these example remotely comparable?
Czech Republic has bought and used (still actively using) military tech from the USSR and even sold the L-39s to russia. So both parties have an military connection.
S.Korea and Japan have never sold arms to each other and never been in an alliance, so no military connection between the 2 parties.
Thats ignorant at best.
How so? Czech Republic sold russia L-39s and is still operating russian machines.
*czechoslovakia
Most of our warsaw pact equipment was already replaced and what little remains is going to be replaced soon. hell, even some of the western equipment we have is already being replaced.
Doesn’t change anything, the L-39 was still sold by them to russia.
You may have replaced many of these vehicles but yet you still operate some of them, so again Czech Republic still has an military connection to russia. However player opinion matters but it won’t change the facts.
i wonder where you get the confidence to lecture a czech person with family members currently serving on what equipment czech army and airforce uses.
Last soviet equipment in AČR stock are:
- BMP-2s, currently being replaced by Cv90s
- BUKs, being replaced by SPYDER
- Mi-8s, tender is not open yet but confirmed to be replaced by western heavy-lift helicopter by MoD
- Mi-171, with deep modernization from US, that are mostly used by SOF for long-range transport
- T-72M4CZ, deeply modernised with western tech (fun fact, uses same sight as TURMS), to be phased out after the accquisition of 2A8s is complete
Wikipedia article on CZ equipment is wildy out of date as most of soviet equipment was gradually moved to reserves since 2000 and was mostly donated after 2022 to you know where.
only real warsaw pact equipment still in use are RPG-7s, but tender is expected to be announced soon to replace them, as most of the stock is from 70s.
even reserves get to use BRENs.
I am simple stating facts. If you think that i try to lecture you then you thought wrong.
Czech Republic has bought russian military vehicles and used them, so they have an military connection to russia. So some vehicles may be placed there like the L-39 (which russia actually used). Is that really hard to understand?
I am not trying suggest for the Czech Republic to be in russia as a subtree.
Not sure about this, looks like it’s going to be a bit of an… albatross
wrong. CZECHOSLOVAKIA bought some, and produced other under license. CZECH REPUBLIC never bought soviet nor russian equipment, were NATO country since 2004 and even before that czechoslovakia participated in operations with the west, mots notably during Desert Storm (chemical units), and UNPROFOR (fun fact, our current president, then Lieutenant Colonel, led a rescue mission to save french soldiers). Only russian import as far as i recall, if you can even call it that, were Mi-171s in 2005, but these werent bought, these were debt repayment.
CZECH REPUBLIC used remaining stock of the warsaw pact equipment since 1993 and we immidiately begun replacing it, either by selling them off completly or getting western equipment as soon as we could.
to even suggest that there is military connection to russia ignores the political background of our country, which was defacto forced to be part of Warsaw pact. yes, we used warsaw pact equipment. not becasue we wanted to. i could go on about czech domestic tank development cut short by the warsaw pact standartization, or how we fought tooth and nail to adopt vz.58 over AK as service rifle.
It’s the USSR that made up a chunk of Czechoslovakian equipment, not Russian. This is genuinely an important thing as it shows that the Czech republic is actively moving away from soviet era equipment and closer to indigenous and western equipment.
As put perfectly by Beeschurger:
Israel isn’t eastern aligned and still uses/used several soviet stuff (exampls of prior soviet equipment includes upgraded IS-3M, T-54 and T-55). Same with other nations such as Greece (BMP-1) and South Korea (T-80U, BMP-3 and even evaluated a modified KA-52K (ik know it’s Russian but it reinforces a point that having x vehicle doesn’t= x alignment)) despite western alignment.
Also Czechoslovakia and it’s successors have way more vehicles other than leopards and albatrosses, it would be waste to shoehorn it into a tree with plenty of domestic options and subtrees with way better current relations (like how India should’ve been with Israel for multiple reasons).
Also wouldn’t Iran be a way better option?
It would allow Czechoslovakia to be independent, add more Iranian vehicles and swell the USSR tree in plenty of ranks, it’s a win-win-win.
So:
- No missiles (R-60 i get, but why not R-3S atleast?)
- Lack of payload options (namely PK-3 gunpods, LR-122 rockets and UB-32 pods (of which 4 can be carried))
- Lower carrying capacity (It should be able to carry 1500kg of payload, not just 1000)
- No CCIP
Look how they massacred my boy :/
Well made a thread for it, heres hoping.
I believe this is supposed to be an “early” or lacks the bells model of the plane.
Was really hoping this wouldn’t be a premium
