It was a recently added vehicle that was the top addition for the update that they were introduced in that tech tree. Rank has no bearing on foldering
the highest rank vehicles don’t get foldered
I don’t see how the F-18s will be an exception to that rule
Vehicles are foldered based off of Dev Server and forum feedback, general idea of capabilities relative to vehicles that are similar, same model. Top Ranks haven’t had enough of a reason for this yet. I’m proposing a situation that does.
firstly its an RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) plane not a main UK British one.
theoretically they should be identical however that is provided the Aussies and Yanks use the same stuff on them. The British and american harriers are a good example of Technical compatibility (mostly) but have different loadouts

Depends on if the US Super hornet is a Block I, II, or III.
Australia only ever received Block II airframes.
Gaijijn would absolutely just reskin the RAAF one so the block doesnt matter too much.

The F-14’s supposed to be a Block 65, but is modeled after a Block 130
The US F-16A’s a nonspecific “Block 10” airframe that lacks the antenna it needs to actually be a Block-10.
The US F-4’Es somehow a non-DMAS airframe, circa '72 armed with Mavericks (let alone the GBU-15)
I could go on but I’m just making the point that if you truly look hard enough practically nothing is actually correct, or lines up in the US tree (outside oddly enough the A-7D which for some reason is practically perfect, outside the AAR-45 LANA pod not needing the A2G radar to be slaved, and not actually being a targeting pod)

Sure, but I’m not really sure that it would be all too unique, If I could only add one more Hornet I’d personally prefer to add a Late USMC F/A-18D, since it has the most significant differences to the ones available to the US at the moment.

certainly possible, but for WT all it would mean for now is some changes to the cockpit, and the potential for advanced stores (AGR-20(F), AGM-187A, AGM-158, ?SiAW?, P-JDAM, etc.) in future.
It’s really interesting that a two seat gripen gets added, so easily with what improvements or changes over the regular ones other than having no gun, yet all I’m told is no f18 for lack of difference
We know it will come to the US free eventually.

Eventually, taking the place of something interesting in another update. Kicking the can down the road of vehicles that should have been added upon introduction, that would have taken little effort the first time
Preaching to the choir. I wanted stuff like the East German T-55 and ZSU-23 to come to Germany a long time ago but I’m sure they are saving them for something.
