Need help, LAV-AD control config issue

I can’t assign my Mouse Button 5 to fire the rockets (Secondary Guns) without it activating my Stinger seeker.

I can’t stop it from happening, because there’s no where in the controls menu to remove MB5 from doing that.

On the LAV-AD, the Stinger is “Special weapon” which I use CTRL to activate, AND to launch when locked, to keep it simple.

But MB5 still activates the seeker and I can’t seem to stop it. How do I get around this?

In other words the mouse button I want to use for rockets (MB5) is always activating the seeker, no matter what I do. I can’t find where to stop it. I don’t want to activate the seeker on a separate bind as I am used to just using CTRL for both activation AND launch.

EDIT: There seems to be another issue; I also bound a random key (R) to Secondary Guns. It fires the rockets BUT STILL ACTVATES THE SEEKER.

Is the LAV-AD hardcoded to have the seeker activation routed to Secondary Guns? If so that’s a problem, because now anything bound to fire the LAV’s rockets is going to activate the seeker, which can get annoying.

It should’ve been moved, just because people dont look there as you said doesn’t mean you shouldn’t follow the Forum’s rules.

Anti-air weapons are considered secondary weapons regardless if the vehicles have more than two, I believe it’s a issue, just like you can activate seeker with same rangefinder key, which is usually “R”.

Regarding your problem, to truly test it to proof, I recommend first saving a copy of your controls settings to your personal computer then with a copy saved, clear all control settings in-game, add some new one and test it to see if your current control settings isn’t making this issue to happen.

Which would explain why it’s activating the seeker… but unlike CTRL, it’s not actually launching the stingers if it happens to lock (which it did in my video, and as you saw, no stinger launched while I was still shooting rockets).

Ok I wiped all controls (saved first) and then manually assigned “weapon lock” back to alt-x (default) and manually assigned Secondary to MB5, and it launches the rockets without activating the seeker.

So another setting is causing the original issue, but no setting makes sense…

EDIT: Ok this is weird, but Naval “Fire rockets” is interfering. When I wiped that and changed it, now LAV-AD does not activate seeker when firing rockets.

wtf Gaijin?

Upon further testing:

I have discovered that whatever key you have bound to Naval “Fire Rockets” will activate the LAV-AD’s seeker.

With Naval Fire Rockets bound to R, and Ground Secondary Weapon bound to MB5:

MB5 fires the LAV rockets, does not activate seeker
While still in the LAV, pressing R ACTIVATES the seeker REGARDLESS of any other seeker or weapon binds

Is this a bug?

Basically: the Naval Fire Rockets command is behaving in Ground as if you are press the Weapon Lock command, for is ALT-X, EVEN IF I UNBIND THAT COMMAND.

Also, while it activates the seeker, it doesn’t DE-ACTIVATE it like ALT-X would.

So, I guess to TLDR this:

Naval Fire Rockets is interfering in Ground weapons. And only rockets. I tried messing with other Naval weapons setting and they didn’t cause interference. Just Naval, Weaponry, Rockets.

So as it stands now:

My naval rockets is R ONLY… I had it also to MB5 but removed that part, and I tested it on my Russian Pr. 183 B-21 and it works now, just R, MB5 not bound to rockets

My ground secondary weapons is MB5, nothing else, and the LAV’s rockets fire without activating seeker

BUT pressing R in ground, even though it’s only a naval rocket bind, still activates seeker. Which is fine because I have no reason to do it. But it is weird that the naval rocket bind is being recognized in ground as a seeker activation.

It has been moved, Players do check the academy section as people do tend to help people.

Please don’t title your posts in a way that assumes players don’t look in certain sub sections of the forums. You’re asking for help on controls. It is not something that goes into ‘game discussion’ area.

How can we tag a mod to get a move for people? An easy one?

Usually pinging the mods who are currently active or send them a PM is the fastest way to get a mod to look at the post.

This isn’t “players helping players.”

This is “Gaijin for some stupid reason has a Naval bind interfering with a very specific ground vehicle mechanic.”

Naval rocket bind has no business activating seekers for ground vehicles…

I was mererly asking about moving threads from another that was console based but ended up in steam earlier on and was wondering.

Is this you responding to me asking?

Like, usually I do help, but you were really rude to me last week so yea…
