Yeah, moving the MiG-23 down won’t solve the balancing problem either. I mainly used it as an example because it directly affects us MiG players in practice.
As far as I can see, this BR change exposes the F-15s to the MiG-23 variants, the German/Italian TT Tornados, the F-111s, and the A-10C (all at 11.7) — none of which should ever see the F-15 in matches.
There are also far more aircraft at 12.0/12.3/12.7 than at 11.7, all of which regularly face the F-15, so Gaijin is significantly more likely to overlook the impact it has on the small amount of 11.7s, given how most of their focus this update is just on reworking top tier.
This really needs more attention, since discussion on 11.7 has been very limited - in this context, aside from a few mentions of the MiG-23, the other 11.7 jets haven’t been mentioned at all.
It’s likely to get buried beneath the broader argument that compressing BRs downward is bad.
Oh for sure, but off the top of my head they’d be one of the better iR missiles in the bracket in terms of range, on a platform that isn’t played largely pretty terribly like the Mig-21s tend to be, while having enough of a player base to stick in memory. Im also guessing the player was playing the German Sabre Dog, which would mean things like the SPS K would be on their team, ergo less apparent. So the harrier would stick out more.
Im the leader of the cult. I was elected as so because i do the bug reports for the evil fox that should be 46.7BR because it goes over 20mph and doesnt just die when a russian spawns
(in case sarcasm is lost on you, we arent intentionally targeting you. This is just you throwing toys out of the pram over opinions about pixels on a screen)
Tbf the Eagles shouldn’t be moving down. We also still have an F-16A with 6x IRCCM missiles at 12.7. When all other F-16A at 12.7 have non-IRCCM missiles
Thats due to the mig 23 being the F-15 of 10.7. NOTHING, and i mean nothing at 10.7 is dealing with a mig 23 who really wants them dead, it has long needed a br increase.
And the rwr it gets is perfectly functional, if i can use the mig 21s rwr in sim i think you can manage in a mig 23, all you need are 4 directions (think its technically 8 as 2 mean its diagonal) which is alot better the my ASA with no directions. And im still positive in the ASA which shows you how usable hugging the deck is as thats all i do in it.
If you BVR at 8km height off to the side of your team, fire and crank/pre chaff at the high targets while firing first, then drop down to flank the enemy formation/ambush with IRST to unload some of your the R-60s before returning to the airfield to rearm, you can reliably get between 1-4 kills on most matches without dying on the first sortie.
But that’s besides the point. 11.7 should really not be seeing the F-15.
