Merkava 1 and 2 armour is definitely better than the Leopard 1, AMX-30 and the like.

Reasoning: The Merkava Mk.2D is a durable vehicle due to its armor and module layout. However, it is not excellent when looking at firepower and armor, and does not perform as well as a BR 10.0 deserves. I suggest that this vehicle should not be changed from BR 9.7.

Compared to those vehicles, the Merkava would certainly be slightly better armored. However, both Leopard1 and AMX-30 have excellent mobility instead of armor. On the other hand, I would say that Merkava does not have superior mobility and is less survivable.

Reason: Sure the missile is nice and all, but it’s still a radarless system with only gen 1 thermals that sucks at engaging helicopters (with no AA alternatives to deal with them).
It’s a system with pretty serious hard limits, it’s fine where it is.
