No, it’s better than the phantom ice, and it would cover the transitional stage between gen 3 and gen 4, like the other gen 3 with amraams, Sweden also deserves to have historically accurate planes with correct loadouts

Phantom ICE has 8 AAMs, rates better currently, and is faster.
Indeed, JA-37D is the saddest for me, especially since they wrongfully nerfed it, and all the Swedish aircraft that were and now are worse in performing in the FM department.

Absolutely. I think that the JA-37D is the worst off from its lack of AMRAAMs. It would make an incredible and unique fighter for 12.3 with them (and no IRCCM) while allowing the 37C to receive the 9Ls it’s missing. After that, the ADF should 100% receive its 9L(I)s and 120Bs that were exclusively the AAMs it used (plus 120Cs but the game isn’t quite ready yet). The other three I can see arguments for them not receiving ARH though I do not agree with said arguments. But the 37D and ADF need AMRAAMs.

37D doesn’t need AMRAAMs, neither does the ADF.
Italy already has a 13.0 fighter, and Typhoon’s around the corner.

So the same BR as the f16 on france with 9M’s Maws and countermeasure pods? Sounds balanced with 4 rb99s but it will just be a glorified missile slinger it really depends on what gaijin chooses.
Well yes but no. With 74Ms it’d be 12.7 as the flight performance is dramatically better than the ICE. 12.3 would be with basic 74s, not AIM-9Ms that Sweden didn’t actually use. More like the J-8F. It’d still be highly maneuverable with exceptional BVR.
I will admit mistake on my end since I haven’t flown the Viggen in a hot minute…
