PGZ88, only 7.7?

Exactly this.

Now PGZ88 is ready to have a laser range finder and might have APHEI in the future, time to 8.0

Even more so, compare it to the VEAK40. It has a search radar instead of just a tracking radar, better armor, better ammo, a LRF, and a higher fire rate. And now that it is released and is still only 7.7, it’s actually ridiculous how blatant the br power-creep is getting.

Meanwhile WEAK-40

It’s pretty hard to see SPAA has such a good record in GRB

ZSU37 performing badly shouldn’t surprise anyone, russian teams here are some of the best nuke sources in the whole game (~9.3 is the best with the free ZSU23 spam).
But damn how does VEAK have worse K/D stats? Is it the insane spray of 37mm that it just can’t match?

Probably it has to do with PGZ-88 actually being somewhat armored compared to VEAK if the wiki is to be believed(I’ll just use it because I’m not at home) and it also has a better ROF: 360(88) compared to 300(VEAK)

I also should mention take the pgz-88 stats with a grain of salt since they might change in the near future because the 88 as of right now never overheats when shooting so you can empty your ammo in one go without ever stopping firing

the front of the pgz is inmune to .50cal, hard to overpressure and harder to ammorack or one shot, the veak or the zsu 37 are wet paper tissues compare to the pgz 88

In truth, it isn’t particularly powerful at BR 7.7. This battle rating has an extremely high uptier rate, and most opponents the PGZ88 faces are late heavy tanks. Its 37mm cannon struggles to pose a meaningful threat to them. Additionally, the Chinese air tree lacks viable air superiority fighters at this BR. Without the PGZ88 here, the Chinese lineup would have no means to counter aerial targets at all. As for the armor concerns you brought up, I believe they are negligible—nearly all Chinese vehicles at this battle rating feature light armor.

One additional point: if the PGZ88 gets its battle rating raised, it will consistently be matched against Cold War-era vehicles. Many NATO vehicles at that BR are products of the “armor is obsolete” doctrine. The PGZ88’s effectiveness against ground targets will actually increase, while its anti-air capability remains largely unchanged. A higher battle rating would therefore be a buff for it.

Veak40’s radar is worse, actually, PGZ88 has a laser rangefinder and optical detection, which makes it much more critical

PGZ88 can easily break through these heavy armor’s guns and tracks, and doesn’t need to consider .50 cal shooting, that’s why it should have a higher BR, also the laser rangefinder and optical detection make it worth 8.0, and It would be devastating for most CASs.

With over 83mm pen at 7.7 compared to the french Amx DCA which only has 50mm at 8.7 !!! How do they justify the DCA at such a high BR with less pen then the 20mm canon from the Amx 30 !! I guess the DCA is really meant to only be an AA.
