It was planned to support the Martel TV missile, and the Martel datalink pod. The PGM uses a different datalink pod.
IIRC the Martel datelink pod was going to go on the centreline pylon, between two Martels. I don’t know if the PGM data link pod would fit there between two PGMs.
Jets with BRs as high as Tornado need to start with some kind of Guided weapon as stock even just 2 GBUs. You just cannot play it, the airframe is terrible when stock, the standard bombs are impossible to use when you are forced to face top tier SAMS and it’s 2 IR missiles are no comfort.
Big laser guided bombs are kinda useless when you can just direct hit a guy with a 500lb bomb and be done with it. 2000lb gps bombs on the other hand are the GOAT at taking out stationary targets.
I say give tonkas 6 1000lbs bombs stock so they can take out a single base instead of 4 and being stuck with 3/4 of a base gone per run.
Yeah but i find the mp bombs kinda usless, gps gets fucked if i even breath a laser in thier direction. I would love if we got gps bombs only as well so i can still fire at multiple people without only using the pgms as it would allow me to bring more ordinance. 2 pgms, 4 alarms and 3 gps bombs with 2 laser, gps bombs would be the dream loadout.
Yup, real annoying when your trying to guide in multiple things at once. would love an option to select which bomb you guide in with the rests laser guidance turned off.
The value in those use to be back when they were one of the only weapons with IOG and was a big deal with GBUs. Now yeah, it’s really niche to ever take them. I did a little bit of ship hunting with them in ASB before, but now the PGMs don’t miss and we have Seagles.
Niche fun in ASB and a little in ARB but yes. But the point is, they exist in-game, on the same platform, so would be an easy C&P and have no balance concerns
Like pretty much all AShM’s Kormorans are pretty much useless but are cool. But would be cooler if they gave them to other aircraft that could carry them.
