Maybe next patch, I have already nudged them enough on BV/CAPTOR/Raven radar stuff already.

Im surprised its taken this long to add a ground mode for the tornaods. Did they not have a ground radar? and if they do get one would it be able to slave pgms allowing ripple fire? Would help tremendously in sim finding targets as you have to fly a jet at low alt while looking for targets… Ill be the first to admit ive eaten leaves more times than i should due to forgetting to set the wing angle. those last few degrees of travel cause the nose to dip down, and its kinda hard to tell the grounds getting closer untill its too late lol.

They had Ground mapping radar which is very accurate for larger targets like buildings to then lob bombs at. However the usefulness of this has been largely diminished by the map placed CCRP markers, as it would have given largely the same capability but made it more unique to the Tornado.

I think it also had GMTI, but only out to a range of about 8km iirc and I guess they figure that it has such limited guided weapons, GMTI wouldnt be all that valuable. Which is a real shame. As you said, even if not of much use in GRB. Would definetly be of use in ASB.

But yes. Its time for a Tornado IDS radar overhaul I think. Especially as I think it should have a fairly basic A2A SRC radar mode as well.

Another thought just came to me, would make guiding brimstones a dream in sim as it would basically be a SARH missile but for ground targets. You could stay in cockpit view while firing at targets, one after another without ever changing view. We need it on the gr.4 more than the gr.1.

Yeah, this is what I was hoping for with the GMTI on the Typhoon, but the Tpod (at least the last time I checked) didnt snap to the radar lock and so for now its just useful for finding something. Which is really annoying

Had one of those “hang on a second” moments

Doesn’t really change much I don’t think. But shouldn’t the Tornado F3 have Skyflash TEMPs instead of Skyflash DFs?

It should, but performance wise there is no difference between them, so probably just Gaijin not being bothered to change the name.

it’s an old name, meant to differentiate between AIM-7E that have delayed guidance compared to Skyflash and AIM-7E2 that almost have instant guidance

so TEMP means Tornado Embodied Modification Package, and is the list of modifications required to fire a Skyflash from a Tornado. You literally can’t fit a non-temp missile to the aircraft as the ejection mechanism is different, thats what @Morvran was questioning.

Theoretically it’s an interim solution in the game to represent select missiles that were physically field modified by ordinance-men to enable Dogfight timings & coefficients to be used for use on aircraft that either didn’t have, or prior to the prevision and installation of the “Dogfight” series of computer mechanization to permit the electrical selection of the two presets as called for based on the launch conditions prior to launch, one optimized for longer range the other short range.

This was before sufficiently small electronics being developed to permit the Sparrow to optimally adjust in-flight to the conditions which occurred with the -7F.

The “Dogfight” Sparrow should really only be available to the US F-4C & F-4D / -4E (and even then only for a “Early” 'Nam variant which we don’t have a concrete configuration for), but then other aircraft with them should have the relevant computer integrated into the FCR so should be similarly capable.

It’s really just a hold over from Gaijin that they have yet to revise and likely never will. not that their -7F, or the later Sparrow modeling accurately reflects how they should fly either. But it’s hard to get things changed.

Thought so and yeah, I doubt it will be fixed

oh sorry, lol I’m missing the point here.

Did the Tornado Gr4 ever use a Twin bomb carrier on the wing pylons for the Paveway IV?

Nah, the Paveways need a MIL 1773 Bus, you can’t wire that through the twin carrier.

I wondered if it had the same carriers used on the Typhoon

Almost certainly not haha.

Ah damn. There goes that plan for mass PW4 drops in SB :P

I don’t know if you guys already have this but this is part of some product brochure from the early tornado series, though it may be enough proof to implement the Martel on the GR.1, as long as y’all have something else that supports this

Yup

Was reported a while ago, but hasnt come yet
