Not saying that, but usually you find that the Axis member countries were regarded as the bad people…seeing that they launched their attacks first.
You can, of course, add the Soviet Union and their attack on Poland as part of the early agression as well, but in the end they also fought the Third Reich.
For Germany, Italy and Japan, sure. For other countries in the Axis, it’s not that simple.

On a sidenote, the only nation to fight WW2 from September 39 to August 45 was the United Kingdom.

Iam honestly disappointed we didn’t get a gigantic victory banner to display our ideological preferences. Or will that be part of some other victory day event…hmm gibus a gigantic red victory banner flag so that we can cover our tanks with it pls. Like the naval one, just without the flag pole.

its a pretty even split between 11xBritish (incl. Commonwealth and an exiled Pole), 12xUS (including one Mexican), and 12xSoviet pfps, with two Frenchmen and an Israeli to round it off
having said that, this one will be the 4th Pages of History related to the flag raising over the Reichstag

It’s been the subject for 4 May 8s in a row. First the two NCOs, then their lieutenant last year, now their battalion commander. We’ll get back to Zhukov eventually.

You know you can always suggest people for consideration? What’s needed is a photo, the name, the achievement and what battle/date to tie it to.
I offered James Edgar Johnson this winter, albeit for June (his wing was among the first to operate from just captured Normandy). But as you can see, he got in as the annual Spitfire march profile picture.
Apart from that I’ve suggested at least 4 more people, incl. “Sailor” Malan for BoB, Kirill Yevstigneev, “Rod” Smith (leader of the first flight to shoot down a Me 262) and, now, a tank commander N.G. Chubarov for next May (or the May after) to not only post banner raisers.
I’ve noticed a bit of a pattern with at least 3 months: March is dedicated to Spitfires, May is Berlin/Reichstag Banner raisers, and June is D-Day. The rest is up for debate.

I would suggest something revolutionary: Can we please have profile reward pics from other nations than the Soviet Union? Why must pages of history always be pages of the Soviet Untion?
Almost every cycle the same, barely known soviets vs. not a single real Panzer or Luftwaffe Ace since years.
This is the catch. PL was attacked from Ger and SU together. One from the East, one from the West. After this, Finland was attacked by SU unprovoked and in 1945 SU also attacked Japan, despite the non agression pact.
By that logic just the western powers should get profile pics.

When it comes to the invasion of poland (also other attacks such as Finland), they prefer to close both eyes and cover their ears with their hands, according to them WW2 startet later.
They like to portray themselves as victims, even though they’ve been notorious aggressors.
