While I agree it could have been a lot better thought out before release,
I still can’t fault Gaijin for the “status” of the server itself.
99.9% of all the problems are coming from the players/community.
A total disregard for others and a complete lack of self respect are plainly
evident. People even trying to remotely use it for it’s “intended purpose”
are quickly smothered by utterly tasteless and ridiculous nonsense.
When you look at all the players complaining about “Slop” and then you view
the posts in that “Official” server . . . yeah, that renders any/all complaints . . .
pointless.
I do not see anyone posting that garbage in the server as having any right to
complain about . . . . … . anything . . . . ever . . … lol.
They could increase the moderation team 10 fold and work them 24/7
and barely put a dent in that mess . . . . for reals
Any attempt at posting anything even remotely relevant or useful to other players is immediately drowned out by fifteen ‘6-7 meme’ gifs, and usually all the same too.
Even a 15-minute cooldown between posts just wouldn’t help. Everybody is just spamming the Discord in the hope to level up as fast as possible to Level 10 where they can post images.
As expected it has gotten a lot better with the new air/ground/naval chat rooms. Gaijin should have had the foresight that packing 20 thousand WT players into 2 rooms isnt gonna go well
Yeah the more I look in and watch the more I genuinely don’t understand what I’m supposed to do on the server.
We can’t post anything but text until we level up with some ambiguous amount of posts that requires many posts to unlock to prevent spam but everyone is spamming to unlock them so this rule is running completely counter to its intended purpose?
There’s better ways to prevent new joins from posting TOS breaking stuff than this system.
I view being able to post images as a core part of a war thunder channel especially for questions about something where it might be hard to describe it without being able to share a reference so that server is missing a core part of what makes discord discord and I’m not grinding out the ability to post pictures while being a second class citizen to the kids who have spammed their way to image privileges and are throwing gifs around as fast as the cooldown allows.
I’m trying to gather some data to determine if I need to bug report some potential issues with naval shells and I ain’t doing that through text.
People stick around in discords for the communities of people built up in them, why is any normal non attention seeking edgelord going to hang around for this one outside of gawking at the tomfoolery?
I absolutely agree. This is the only way to maintain accountability from users.
Also, the Gaijin TOS, forum rules and in game rules should be enforced on the Discord server, with punishments for violations being applied to both server membership and the user’s game account. Anything less only enables the trolls.
how can you tell what a discord accounts WT account is? Cuz i dont use “RDXRooster63” for mine
In addition, how do you stop from people pretending to be other people? Depending on the implementation i could use my alt to impersonate you or any other person and spam slurs until your account is banned for example.
it may stop trolls, but opens up potentially worse doors
As for that - You wouldn’t listen to constructive criticism in the slightest! You’d quickly ban anyone with a difference of opinion regardless of how it is delivered.!
Rules!!
Any materials (photos, videos, etc) not related to the game.
What about streaming other games not related to Warthunder? People already doing it.! lol
