The UK was one of the founding nations involved in Boxer, we left just after the first 2 prototype’s were shown in favour of a now cancelled project. Still lots of the parts came from the UK anyway.

Then Rheinmetall and BAE merged into RBSL so its part British owned so for national interest it made the most sense.

The Piranha had nothing to do with the UK so they probably wouldn’t have seriously considered it.

But ASCOD SV was chosen instead BAE FRES SV.
I think the reason is not BAE.

The Boxer does everything piranha V does, but rhinmetall agreed to negotiate licensing for spares and such for after the initial contract ends, GD didn’t. GD are most of the problems with the Ajax programme these days too lmao, it’s not a very well run company.

Things are differences between those 2 situations. At first BAE said they will produce FRES on factories they have already set on CV90, so in sweden. Much later in the negotiations they said that they will do local production, but mod has already decided at this point.
