Object 292 Needs ERA – Proven Compatibility, BR Justifies It

Spoiler

He should at least get what’s coming to him.

The T-80B, which is the closest comparable vehicle to the Object 292, shares the same battle rating of 10.7 but benefits from access to its hull ERA package as a Tier III modification. This means the standard T-80B, even with its dated gun, gains significant survivability through ERA—despite being at the same BR as the Object 292.

Meanwhile, the Object 292 is still missing any form of ERA, despite its higher-velocity gun and overall concept placing it closer to a next-generation upgrade. Adding to its disadvantages, the Object 292 has a 10-second reload, making it the slowest-firing MBT at its BR. This greatly punishes any missed shot or failed penetration, often resulting in a quick death for the player.

Considering its lack of ERA and slow reload, the Object 292 is disproportionately vulnerable at 10.7. Granting it access to the T-80U-style turret ERA and T-80BV hull ERA would not only reflect its tested compatibility but also help it survive in the modern high-tier meta.

No, not like this; Object 292 with ERA and thermals is the perfect candidate for a future endgame Russian tree MBT.

That’s if it was ever planned to be fitted with thermals though, of which I’m not sure

This is a model from Tarasenko, not a real tank. On two first photo.

Firstly, the Object 292 is an event vehicle. While Gaijin could theoretically add a version of the Object 292 with different armor to the tech tree, doing so would undermine the purpose of adding the Object 640 (Black Eagle), which is already designed to stand out in that role.

Additionally, Gaijin generally avoids adding copy-paste vehicles, especially when dealing with unique or valuable content. The Object 292 is currently one of the most expensive tanks in War Thunder’s new event cycle, and it deserves to maintain its distinctiveness and premium value.

If it gets ERA then it can finally move to 11.7

Mmmm more tanks that we know sooo very little about, how fun. Unless more info on the black eagle comes out, it shouldn’t be added at all since so much of it would be up to speculation man.

10.3 BR worthy ERA would not warrant a full 1.0 BR jump man, it still doesn’t have thermals, no machine guns, and has a 10 second reload man.

So now we can’t add variants of event vehicles to regular trees because it “takes away” from them…?

No Merkavas? No ERA Centurions? Etc…?

Not to mention, your comment reinforced my point. Vehicles shouldn’t be locked behind limited paywalls to the degree that they gatekeep even all of its potential variants.

Let me sell you US AGS/LT prototype LMAO

Firstly, I agree with you that vehicles shouldn’t be locked behind paywalls—but that actually reinforces my point. Gaijin has consistently shown a tendency to avoid adding copy-paste vehicles as event rewards, likely to preserve their uniqueness and value.

Nope. The 292 is already enough of a hassle to contend with as it is, and should really be sitting at 11.0-11.3BR rather than 10.7BR. It needs nothing else.

Man, I don’t even know what that’s supposed to mean.

My problem is that in an uptier, nearly every tank can penetrate the Object 292 frontally—even without aiming for weak spots. For example, DM43 rounds can go through the sloped composite front plate with ease. Even an M1A1 can penetrate it from the front, which makes the armor effectively useless. In contrast, a T-80B in the same uptier can still rely on its armor to some extent, giving it a survivability edge the Object 292 simply doesn’t have.

A 292 with ERA and thermals wouldn’t be “copy-paste”; it would be 13.0 material.

It’s like saying that T-80BVM is a copy-paste of T-80B…

I mean… just like Object 292 can penetrate practically every tank frontally without aiming for weakspots either on its BR range, and even in top BR as well…?

The US AGS program vehicles. XM8 and CCVL specifically are near copy pastes of each other, and the Stingray in the UK tech tree is as well. which defeats whatever point you are trying to make about them making event vehicles unique or not minor adjustments, even to tech tree options.

Boo-hoo, it’s not like it can do the same to *checks notes: nearly every vehicle in-game

So? Every tank at that BR can get penned frontally, every Russian tank starting from 10.7 gets a unpenetrable hull so the Object doesn’t get ERA but gets the best dart in the game outshines it.

I nearly spat out my tea, what?

hurr durr P-51s in the battlepass, hurr durr copy paste bombers in the battlepass, hurr durr copy paste tech tree event vehicles that might be slightly worse at a higher BR. Need me to continue?

Yeah? Do all other nations really get the same treatment? Do I need to bring up the Leopard 2, which somehow has some of the best armor in the game, or the Adram?

I meant specifically in the context of event vehicles, especially when they’re premiums.

The Battle Pass is basically where Gaijin dumps its lower-effort content. Even the “least copy-paste bomber” just got guided rockets, so it’s not entirely reused. But let’s be real: the Battle Pass isn’t where Gaijin puts its unique or valuable vehicles.

Those top-tier, unique vehicles—the ones that fetch high prices—are usually reserved for the grind-heavy main events. These are the vehicles Gaijin wants to make stand out, and they rarely allow them to be copy-paste, precisely because of their rarity and economic value.
