I was killed by it a couple times when I played the ali-cat on the first days of the event, throwing fakours at people and zooming past their front lines at high alt. The SA-17 and Hawk sites are the most lethal threats for anyone not flying a strategic bomber or multipathing.
Didn’t have high BR soviet stuff to try against the Patriot like I did the ali-cat on the opening days of the event.
That’s one of the other things that irks me incredibly. The OSA’s, FlaRads, Buks, Hawks, Patriots and S-300s are EXTREMELY Overpowered in this event to the point even the Anti-radiation missiles you this time get (hurray, improvement over the previous events) are neigh-on unusable unless you accept you’re committing suicide - and if you get killed - 5 minutes of effort down the drain and 0 points.
The devs should realise they’re harvesting an enormous amount of hatred from the community over this. We can take stuff up to a certain level. This is already fifteen levels over.
Not that Ive found. They seem to sometimes go for chaff when you notch and other times they dont. But with the tiny CM count on the F-4E… Its only enough for 1 or 2 I find.
April 8th changes made the event significantly worse. Without adjusting the SPAA behaviour, it fully preserved the ‘three corridor’ meta where central head-on rush and two flanking routes are the only ways to get anything, but now they got longer, with more travel time, more mandatory head-ons within SPAA bubble and less opportunities to fight.
The forward SPAA are still effectively impervious to damage since they consist of spread-out individual units that no weapon can destroy in a time- and cost-efficient manner, and them being up makes using small nukes on frontline ground target clusters a largely pointless gamble, so the game mode remains reduced to just two activities - ‘head-on collider’ and ‘airfield base rush’, it’s just 4 times as tedious between increased travel and reduced points and score income.
If AI SPAA rework is not in the cards, then the latest batch of changes needs to be rolled back.
I can understand people taking issue with some of the changes (even if I disagree and think the majority of todays changes were positive, barring the slight compression of the frontline for seemingly no reason, but people aren’t offering nuanced takes, they’re acting like todays changes are the end of the world, that the entire mode is ruined and not worth playing anymore, that AA is literally impossible to destroy or play around, etc…
Ngl, im suffering the US phase a lil bit too much, i cant use my aim7’s now every russian is using a full load of flares to spam them because they know already phantom can just use the aim9 in this event, i cant get close to the bases because of the AAA’s idk what to do im just getting around 700-1000 points per match and every match is 1 hour, i cant even use agm’s or anti radiation missiles because the AAA’s are so op now that they intercept all of them
Well, at least I had the chance to spade the F-15 (and researched a bit the pobit) even though… finding a match in that one it was pretty hard. I was tempted to use F4, but stock grind in the event? No thanks. Especially cause I hate phantoms as hell
Day 1 AA were a joke, they were barely a threat to people that werent paying attention to them and could basically be ignored by people who were. They’re in a good place rn in terms of capability. They punish mistakes, but can be handled if attacked correctly.
I still stand on the fact that to REALLY “fix” the AA situation, they should increase the number of static non-respawning AA positions, and double the depot respawn time. That way AA remains actually fun to engage with, and punishing to mistakes, but genuine “holes” can be created and expanded in the frontline.
