Nuclear Thunder!

The second US guy is F-14 again.

I dont think CCRP allows me to lob nukes >10km away… But feel free to correct me if im wrong. I disable CCRP cuz it has caused so many issues at the beginning.

There is setting in air settings chapter which disables ccrp restriction for bomb drops. So you can drop it slightly to right or left without that annoying “bomb release permission” text

the gap is much less smaller now that brackets are a thing and the YAK-141 and MIG-29 are there with R-27s, which severely outrange pheonixes

What? R-27ER doesnt outrange phoenixes lol.

10km is the perfect distance to lob nukes with CCRP. I have been doing it every day of the event, small and medium nukes. US and RU.

You gotta angle up at about 45 degrees and hold the bomb release button (really should be holding the release button before initiating the angle.) I would suggest testing it in a test drive to get a feel for it. You cannot see the exact distance with the F-4E unfortunately because it does not have a targeting pod, but the Su-34 does.

You can test drive the British CF-188A premium, it has a dumb bomb loadout coupled with a targeting pod so you can measure your exact distance to drop at 10km, or slightly further. Beyond 10km you have to stay flying up at 45 degrees longer, exposing yourself to SPAA’s and enemies for more time. Also, each grid of the event is 20km, so you can estimate 10km by dropping about 1/2 a grid square away.

To drop further than 10km, you need to be flying at higher altitudes, or possibly come out from behind one of the mountains. From the coast side I would not recommend lobbing further than 10km. But right about at 10km, you can angle up and lob almost immediately and turn hard within seconds of initiating the 45 degree up angle.

Use the loadout shown in the screenshot below:

Thanks to tips, I finally learning how to fire Radar Missiles in a MiG23, though they got easily defeated. And my first two successful nukes off gaining 2600 xp with CCRP.

However, I just learned I was too late and because I missed the first few days, I won’t be getting the bomber. And I don’t have the funds to outright buy it as some suggested. My sleep schedule is wrecked and I’m half about to collapse due to exhaustion doing this event. Pathetic I know, I stayed up for 2 days grinding matches and trying hard to learn how to do good in this event. I failed. This hits hard as I have depression.

Not sure what to do. The wait time for the US is crazy, and all the time waiting, I missed out on the TU Bomber. I feel like a major failure.

i pray they fix this (and maybe give compensation for making people sit and wait an hour+)

at that point just start a new queue, or do something else

if you go past 10 mins its probably your end and not gaijins

not a bad choice lol

Because it rewards significantly more score than you get for attacking the skynet air defense network.

it is definitely not my end (i got in a game after 58 minutes)

I’m genuinely just done with this event, it’s so damn boring now, the only viable way to get SP/score is to mindlessly furball and suicide over and over in the middle. If you even try to groundpound or use the tactical nukes, you get instantly shot out of the sky by a Flakrad or OSA with absolutely zero RWR or regard for the fact you’re literally lower than treetop level.

Insanely stale now, they had plenty of time to nerf the 50km/h Flakrad’s shooting on the move and completely defying every criteria needed for them to lock, but they still haven’t

What a complete waste of my time

Only way to fly high is to spawn all the way back and stay behind your frontline.

Only nuke carriers and nuke interceptors fly there (3 people and a jamaican toad)

I haven’t had an issue avoiding the osas/flakrads. You just need to respect their zone of control. The problems are that it is in no way worth your time to do ground attack.
1: SPAA are RIDICULOUSLY capable of shooting down any guided munitions, so it is impractical to destroy air defenses with ground attackers. They also respawn very fast, so it is wasted effort to chip away at it.
2: you can fly around the air defenses to nuke the buk/s300/airfields, but doing so takes an enormous amount of time
3: Even if you nuke an airfield or s300/patriot site, the rewards are abysmal. It is a far better use of your time to just mindlessly furball and then lawn dart to respawn faster once you run out of missiles.

Thank you for taking a paragraph to state you just play ARB in the map like everyone else. That was a very valuable insight. You are so so so so so skilled and eloquent. Thank you so very much.

There is probably more SPAA bullshit on this map than in the entirety of NATO or Russias inventory.

Problems cannot get fixed if the reasons for WHY it is a problem aren’t elaborated on. The game mode is currently ARB with window dressing because the systems in place encourage it to be that way. This could be resolved with some changes.

1: Delete the central forward airbase so that there is no longer a central singular PvP hotspot. This will spread out players and encourage more fights to occur at multiple spots on the map
2: Reduce the effectiveness of SPAA intercepting munitions so that attackers can more meaningfully damage the air defense network.
3: Reduce the rate that SPAAs respawn so that player attacks against the air defenses are more impactful
4: Alter the reward structure to further incentivize players to play the objectives instead of just furballing

It is foolish to blame the players for furballing when the mode itself encourages furballing.

Now the Spaa bullshit is shooting down dumb bombs, too. Thank you so fucking much, Gaijin. This is just what we needed and didn’t even know it! But sometimes, every once in a blue moon, your iWin buttons don’t hit. Have you considered adding Pantsir SMSVs and NASAMS, just in case we don’t die the first time?

Thank you very much. I look forward to seeing more of your stellar work in tuning this mode.
