Nuclear Escalation - Development update from BVV_d

how was the s-300 guys?

With Brimstone you are firing 18x 60km missiles capable of scanning an area the size of most WT map, spliting up so that each missile locates 1 target each and then hitting that target in the weakest spot to maximise damage. 9km is the estimated lock range of the seeker btw not 6km

The LOAL abilities that will require inertial guidance in the event of adequate obfuscation of the target, as opposed to MMW seekers which are significantly less reliant on inertial guidance in the terminal phase thanks to the general permeability of most not-tank materials to radio waves.

only in perfect conditions though

So like any seeker then? Including his mythical 12km lock range of an IR seeker?

isnt 12km well within reality for IR seekers?

no, stuff like hellfire seeker is more resistant to weather than brimstone.

LOAL + MIL + IIR is not the same as LOAL+ IIR or LOAL+ mmwr.

Bit odd to use LMUR as the example when it is about 9 that the seeker actually goes live from my investigations. Very human directed for the first bit.

But bigger missiles could reasonably secure locks out to 20, under ideal scenarios.

they can go farther depending on the specific seeker

Wtf, mmwr are absically useless without inertial /gps guidance lmao.

IIR seekers can have MITL + LOAL, litterally you can see what the missle is doing, there is nothing more versatile other than an actual loitering munition.

and i would personally take LOAL+MMW over LOAL-MITL+IIR anyday of the week.

Yes, but I am lazy and did not want to get into seeker specifics.

Bigger missile = bigger battery / relevant cooling apparatus = more room to increase seeker acquisition range. This is in no way a technical dissertation of seeker functionality.

“Terminal phase”

We are using the English language. Words in the English language have meaning. Look them up if you don’t know them.

You can make a modified hellfire do 60km of flight by dropping them from 60km, ither wise those are pipe dream.

Mmwr are very strong and useful, i am not debating that, i am saying is that they get mogged by MITL+IIR , in 99% of the tactical situations.

Lets, stop it there pal, everyone thinks what he wants and i am fine with that.

Very glad to talk about such systems but we are going nowehere anyway.

Have a nice day

Tactical situations that do not include: Particularly heavy forests, vaguely dense urban sprawl, entrenchment etc

Brimstone 2/3 is not a hellfire…

Brimstone 2/3 have triple the range of the Brimstone 1.

and I think that MITL part is very niche. Only useful in very specific situations. But if the context is War Thunder, then MMW will always be superior. Otherwise why do we have IIR+MITL+GNSS weapons but not even basic MMW weapons?

At this point, with how folk don’t believe in the inherent benefits of using radio waves over near visible light emissions, we might as well receive them and let come what may.

Yep. Getting tired of the lack of decent A2G for the Tornado and Typhoon

Devs are technically right on the whys that most things are permeable to radio waves, more so than IR. But evidently this is not such a problem in the eyes of the players.
