It’s really not. The F-5a and the F-104G are both better planes than the J35XS. The F-5A will out dogfight the Draken in any fight that last more than 1 turn. The F-104G has a massive tactical advantage of being able to take the initiative and or escape the fight when needed. The Draken’s missile count is really irrelevant.
The J35XS’s only advantage is from quickly putting its nose on other jets in a furball and 3rd partying unaware players with its easily flarable IR missiles. Its a luck based plane completely dependent on your teammates distracting enemies. It simply will not win in a dogfight against a similarly skilled pilot in any jet 10.3 and up.
I recently switched back to playing the F-5e and the two planes are not even close (the F-5e has a far superior flight model due to energy retention, and A2A lead computer, more countermeasures, and a RWR). Now that plane deserves its 10.7 BR. Not the Draken.
Since I bought both the Draken and F-104 and used them, I can confirm that your comment matches my experience so far with said vehicles.
Can i have some of what you are smoking? F-5A is overtiered. Worse FP than a stock F-5E, without radar, or lead indicator. Still 10.7. Italy’s F-104G has a whopping two AIM-9Js, compared to your six. J35XS has much more impact on a game.

F-104S =/= F-104G. S has triple the missile count, more bomb payload, a better engine. Thus, your opinion is irrelevant.

j35xs is a joke and looks like devs’ scam. He can only turn once in the dogfight, has abysmal energy retention, those six rockets are useless if you can’t find the six to stick them in, but when you do, you will turn trying to shoot them and you will lose energy. Flared easily. Gun is a joke too - not in the center, low ammo count, 30mm are not there to damage like 30mm should. I haven’t played f-5, but I know it’s better, because if you have a centered gun and can turn 2 times, you are already won.
Horrible plane which makes even the premium grind painful and long.
I used pm1 to grind out props, used a21rb for early jets and then slapped a talisman on the f-5a and used that to grind out sweden. That’s how I recommend grinding out that tree, j35xs is just mid
Premiums are usually above average only when they are just released, but due to the never-stopping compression, they are bound to be left behind rather quick.
The original premium Vatour used to be really good, you can look at old videos from current content creators and they will all say it was a beast with it’s air spawn, missiles and guns. However, with time it got so so bad with new jets being introduced in a compressed state that thet had to outright remove it from the store because they didn’t know how to balance it. Now it’s fodder for any missile better than Aim 9B.
And people like me paid real money for that one.
Even these days the J35xs is horrible. It’s flight performance is bad and it always get uptiered. Aim 9P are good missiles to club down tiers but that never happens. It always face F-5s which run circles around it because your airframe is a delta wings that doesn’t have any manuverablity whatsoever.
