North Korean Aviation Sub-Tree

Hopefully as part of the United Korean Tree.

I want to see it in the Chinese tree because then you can rather easily make it branch off of the Chinese tree past the J-6 and then just implement the planes before it as skins for the Chinese equivalents. For example, a regular line Yak-9P with a KPAAF skin, IL-10 with a KPAAF skin, La-9 with a KPAAF skin, MiG-15/J-2, MiG-17/J-4/J-5, MiG-19/J-6, etc.
I made a write up a while back (that I never finished) that does exactly that

Plus for this is that you can do it for aircraft that aren’t in the specific N. Korean line too, like the KPAAF A-5IIs or F-7Is

Take with a (heavy) grain of salt

+1 for sheer comedic value

XD so let’s upgrade our Soviet Era to Russian Federation. Aka worse. Not in weapons but complications.

Just make them skins of the existing vehicles, half of the proposed tree have identical models in the USSR and CHN trees, and there are already DPRK skins for some Soviet bombers in-game.

That is incorrect; there are still a lot of differences between a North Korean T-34 or IS-2 than the original.

Same applies for aircraft. It’s not a drastic change though. So your point still stands, nonetheless would be good for a United Korean TT

I got some nice news in regard to North Korea’s aviation. Some years ago North Korea displayed (mock-up) some new aerial weapons they working on like the AGP-250 as shown in my previous comment but also a new what seem to be Beyond Visual Range AAM.

Picture here of these aerial weapons :

Now i am happy to say that this particular BVR missile has undergone testing on the MiG-29 platform. The AGP-250 (rocket boosted assume) and the electro optic glide bomb next to it have also been displayed in front of the MiG-29 and and next to SU-25 platform and have been carried on the North Korea’s new MQ-1 clone.

Pictures here :

Of course there is little to no information but it’s really some nice and exciting news.

China needs at minimum a premium MiG-29. NK-owned one would be perfect for this and would be quite the decent upgrade up from the J-7 (I personally don’t like it and prefer high tier (12.3+) combat). +1 to the entire suggestion though.

If we get the ground tree than an air tree is a must to compliment it. +1 because I think it might get some attention because the memes.

What I did for Cuba is add as many armed trainer jets as possible. Trainer jets have not been featured in the game yet. Considering the dire situation of the country, it would not be unthinkable to see them fielding trainer jets for combat.

Besides, many Soviet trainers could be armed.

So its a Pl-12 clone? also is NK still using the same radar that was delivered in the plane from Russia?

Yes it resembles the PL-12 but the tail control resembles that of some US naval missile interceptors like the RIM-66. However we don’t know the performance of this missile yet but we could assume that China helped them so it could be close to the performance of the SD-10.

I also think that North Korea’s MiG-29s still retain their original radar (Phazotron NO-19E). However i wouldn’t be surprised if they upgraded the radar into something new as they are also working on a IL-76s wit AEW capabilities

I don’t think KPAF ever used La-9. Soviet records never indicate these were supplied. Reports of La-9s stem from misidentification by USAF F-82 pilots.

I would add the F-6C (late) for this line as a semi-unique KPAF plane. The F-6C is similar to MiG-19S (compared to the Chinese tree J-6A that flies like the MiG-19PT).

There is video demonstrating that at least some F-6Cs were modified with 4 additional fuselage hardpoints…presumably for dumb bombs. It can be seen in other suggestions in this forum.

A MiG-21PFM could also be added, which would be the only TT example of this plan since the USSR one is a premium.

But this is the picture from the Pyongyang museum, So at least they possessed one at some point.
