North American P-51A-10 Mustang

Hello everybody. I’d like to suggest a very specific production variant of the Allison-powered Mustang - the P-51A-10 - for the US aviation tech tree in War Thunder, either as a researchable vehicle or as an event/battle pass premium.

The P-51A-10 represents the final version of Allison-engined Mustangs. Equipped with the uprated V-1710-81 engine and an efficient supercharger, it delivered significantly better performance than earlier Allison variants like the A-36 and cannon-armed P-51 Mustang. More importantly, it was a significant fighter in the often-overlooked China-Burma-India (CBI) Theater, where it served as both fighter and escort, ultimately replacing the P-40 as the primary USAAF fighter and remaining in combat as late as 1945!

A quick but important clarification:

Yes, War Thunder has a “P-51A” as the Thunder League reward aircraft (December 2015 event). However, according to a senior suggestion moderator’s confirmation, that the P-51A TL “has no specific block or serial attached.” Therefore, the P-51A-10 with a verified production block and serial number is valid and does comply with the suggestion guidelines.

That said, the P-51A-10 was historically an unsung hero of the CBI Theater, and I think it deserves its more inclusive place alongside its more famous Allison-powered and Merlin-powered siblings in the US Tech Tree.

The US tree could use an event P-51 I guess?

+1! Always been one of my favorite planes.

The american tech tree lack early P-51 for researchable tree (might be P-51A-1 or P-51A-5)

Battle rating 3.0 or 3.3 ?

3.0 for air RB, same as the P-51A (TL) since this one and the TL have identical flight performance.

3.3 for ground battles due to expanded CAS weaponry options.

A +1 from me! Would be nice to see this added along with some more early P-51 variants

I’ve wanted a non-TL P-51A since I figured out it was only TL in like 2015. Don’t get me wrong I like the A-36 and cannonstang. Just the 51A is a much closer aircraft to what you are going to be flying the further down you go (in terms of WW2 aircraft). Relatively light, good maneuverability at high speed, you can outrun most, and you have a limited amount of fire power. Especially if this is put behind say the P-51C. Then your only difference is the C has a Merlin, while the A has an Allison.
