Yeah. Also, can’s stress enough that every step in the direction of adding improved MFD’s etc. is very positive, and much appreciated - especially also in the Sim community.
In AB and RB with (I assume…) many players using 3rd person view or HUD-only view, those improvements to the cockpits may be of less importance, but for us “cockpit flyers”, every one of them is very welcome! = )
Yep, I hope though they go back and start adding some actual functionality to some like the map screens or the TGP views. Would be nice to be able to switch off the game HUD and just fly with the cockpit displays instead.
Does that mean that the F-4E will finally get its cockpit? It has been in the game with the F-4F KWS for so long yet the F-4E still uses the F-4C’s cockpit…
Why is this completely pointless? As long as we cannot actually control things with the MFD’s, there is no reason to put any work in this. These MFD’s are not actually useful. They are just shiny stuff without any gameplay elements. In SIM we still cannot even guide laser guided bombs with the MFD without going into the targeting pod view, which is completely nauseating in VR. No point in putting effort in MFD’s if they aren’t even useable for anything except to ‘look good’.
Put the basics in place first! Allow to bind axes to the MFD controls. Allow guided weapons and MITL control on the MFD. Allow to zoom/pan the map view. Display NCTR information (!!!). etc etc. Only then make more new shiny stuff.
Everything added here is, as usual, an empty shell. It’s meant to look good for about 5 seconds but then when you actually try to do something with it it’s half-assed without any proper gameplay.
