With the arrival of the RAH-66 and its ‘full fuselage armor’ will we see more armor that’s accurate to other helicopters, or will this just be US only thing to get their hand held because it’s a premium helicopter.
Examples of other armored helicopters include:
Ka-50 with titanium armor covering all important systems, including the Engines, Navigation, and Pilot area, capable of stopping 12.7x108 in direct 0° impact, and 23mm shell fragments.
Mi-24, with a full set of titanium armor about the pilot and weapon operator station, as well as 12.7mm round protective front glass, the Mi-24, also well known as the ‘flying BMP’ or in some cases, just straight up ‘flying tank’ it’s an absolute armor monster. It also includes titanium armor about the infantry compartment, engines, and fuel tanks, meaning that this currently slow and heavy beast will actually get protection while being slow and heavy, instead of simply being slow, heavy, unmanageable and easily 1 shot.
(The AH-64 will bed included soon)
another unrelated complaint is APFSDS or solid shots and even APHE rounds taking down these hells, a single hit of a round to the fuselage section, even a hit on ‘major’ frame strut won’t instantly rip the tail off, in fact, it would do nothing but, well, leave a small pin-hole in the fuselage, this leads to no issues with the helicopter, and would make the damage models for all helicopters, and even for airplanes as well, much more realistic.
However, none of these outcome lead to the tail being blown clean out, or the central power shaft being taken out, it’s just so unrealistic gaijin, please just fix it for the love of god, everyone will thank you for it, especially air players.
