New Graphics Update makes the game look Blurry/washed out

Everything maxed out. DLAA with sharpness all the way to the right (max sharpness).
Motion blur turned off. Grass range all the way to minimum. DLSS quality.

Those are my settings.

I had a hunch that the a graphical update with a scale such as this would require alot of files to be changed. So to avoid any overlooked zombie files creating conflict with new files, I just straight up completely reinstalled the game.

Did you do any file cleanup after uninstall? Games tend to leave a lot of files after uninstall, which could get picked up again by the new installation.

Game is on Steam. I uninstalled on Steam. Then deleted the War Thunder file that was left over.
Then installed via Steam again.

So we who play on console just have to deal with this blured garbage graphics?

Just a bug. will be fixxed soon probably

I “fixed” mine by completely turning AA off. It wont make it look like it did before but it helps with making the textures less blurry and washed out

Can`t tell you which AA-Methode i used in the screenshots bcs i dont remember, but they all looked pretty identical for me anyway

Yeah, from my experience, pretty much every new AA method is blurry (just like on your second picture), because they set sharpness slider all the way left as a default.

My guess is that TSR or TAA was set for you by default with sharpness all the way to left (basically turned off completely, hence the lack of sharpness)

If you don’t want to bother, just turn on SSAA to x4.

If you want to play around with it a bit to make it look better. Set AA to DLSS “Native” and play around with sharpness slider to find sweet spot.
If you have AMD card choose FSR instead of DLSS and increase sharpness just by tiiiiiny bit from the left.

I fixed mine with the PostFX settings, the main thing was the dynamic Lut and TPS sharpness. I use DLSS Native.

PS5… love the new 4k textures… Nice job

i fixed it by turning the gunner view sharpness to max in postFX setting, thats in third person wich was at tps before

PostFX sharpening no longer works for me fullstop. At least in DX12 mode.

Try turning off any AA-Methods, Sharpening in PostFX will have no effect then and the game is as sharp as it can be by default then

I fully agree with you, new graphic is just shit.

even when i reverted to dx 11 everything still runs and looks terrible. also there are bugs in the setting causing rtx not to turn off.

For some reason, the textures of other player vehicles/aircraft seem blurry to me. Is that just normal, or is there a way to fix it?

yeah really messed up sim for me cause i struggle to keep track of people when we merge and my graphics card isnt good enough to turn on SSAA and get above 80FPS . Hope gajin reverts these changes as it just makes the game worse.

To fix this problem go to your main game directory…

Common …
War thunder…
(Compiled shaders) …
In there delete all the files from inside there close the directory open the war thunder launcher up on the right see that tool click on it then click on check files wait for it to finish and there you have it your game looks amazing again.

Im having the same issue since two weeks , everything was good until i logged in last week and found my graphics are weird , everything looks blurry and low poly and the shadows of objects are very dark and make me lag.

Try the method i posted trust me

Hello , i tried your method but im still having distance blur , the shadows are ok but distance blur is unplayable (400 metres and up)
