The small maps got enlarged with the last major update. Realistically you are often engaging from 7-10km even on tighter maps like Franz Josef land

this is simply dumb why would you make scarn 8.0 when she doesnt even get the 15 inch guns of Gneisenau which make gnisenau competitive no body understands that the peak pen of scarnhorst with 283mm is only 603 mm at point blank range it cant go up unless it gets 15 inch guns ? she physically cant hurt most 7.7 BBs

the whole cqc thing is for making naval fun look at World of warships they have numerous islands to allow you to get close and shoot the enemy where it hurts anyone who thinks sitting 11 miles away shooting from spawn to spawn is fun is crazy its also not skill based at all theres no strategy no manuvering its just a shooting gallery
a giant circle is not fun
the whole thing with yamato is that she has ammo above water line if you read i specfically said there would be long range sections of the map
theres honestly no reason to play warthunder naval when you world of warships yeah its less realistic but its by far more fun and balanced
the one tap kill switch on Bismarck and other boats of elevator fires is dumb way of nerfing it as you are not going to be fighting just 8.3 your going to be fighting 8.7 Iowa and Yamato and Soyuz and they will one tap magazine you because of this that’s main reason this feature should be added because IRL not a single modern German capital ship was lost to fires because of this feature everyone would get it to and obviously id be fine with raising scarn horst after this buff but Shes only so low because of compression
barbette fires ruin most german boats

First and second screenshot are valid, but will deal limited damage, they also require some luck, as they are limited in size (especially the flat section of the barbette)
Third is an unangled soyuz which never happens, assuming the opponent can connect 2 brain cells
4th is turret side, which is mostly irrelevant as well
Secondly, you took the shell that has the most pen at this range and BR, while conveniently ignoring the shells of :
- Bismarck
- Richelieu
- Vanguard
Finally while the pen indicator can sometimes be green, it still can be stopped by an internal plate or module afterwards

yeah your kinda screwed fight any 8.7 in anything thats not a 8.7 exactly why we need more br and more boats to fill gaps i was in a custom basically point blank range with IJN ISE and me in a scarnhorst and we couldnt do anything to a iowa

A questionable assertion, the Soviet navy had numbers, and a number of advanced ships but their crews were well known to be of generally horrid quality. Soviet (and before that, Imperial Russian) Navies lacked the significant naval tradition and experience of the USN, UK, ITA and FR navies.
Some of the things Soviet crews got away with would get them sent to prison in a proper navy. And it’s a certainty that the multitude of nuclear submarine accidents would’ve been avoided if the Soviet Union bothered with a SUBSAFE program like the USA did.
