New battleships in a nutshell

Good luck with that. Getting gaijin to change anything is like trying to pull your teeth out with a cotton swab. Just look at how hard people tried to get gaijin to buff Roma’s RoF to no avail.

Well good news for Soyuz: It doesn’t have to get close because it already gets one of best dispersion values in the game.

I never said it was the only thing. In fact, I very explicitly mentioned its penetration capabilities in the part of my post you’re quoting.

When you Roma
https://community.gaijin.net/issues/p/warthunder/i/UUUKM8v3nHS0

I thought they fixed it toghether with Yamato ( she had the same secondary problem with fires)…but they probably forgot Roma somewhere along the way.

Man, Roma is such a mess of bugs and artificial nerfs, no wonder she feels so unreliable compared to other new BBs.

H-39 would be a nice upgrade in firepower but armor would still be an issue in 8.7. However you raise an interesting point with the changes during construction. Im really interested whether Gaijin would only accept the initial plans or if the last official plan during construction could count as well

If i’m not mistaken, it was the cordite hoists, which would soon require overhaul, rather than the physical turret mechanism itself.

I am unsure if this mechanism was ever fixed. I think it was fixed in Rosyth.

That said, it has no bearing on the reports of the turrets being rusted shut. I’ve seen a lot of chatter about how it was the fault of the British for not winterising the ship themselves before sending it off. But the British at no point wanted to send the USSR a battleship, particularly not an Italian one, given the British essentially solo’d the Italian fleet, and were already reluctant to give the US the Prinz Eugen. Which is all to say, fumigation and winterization is the easiest basic of battleship maintenance, failure to do this, which the Soviets did, suggests either gross incompetence, or severe neglect.

They’re in Russian, I haven’t got the books yet but ill add them to my list eventually.

Looks like they accepted your report quite swiftly, one small step to make the ship less RNG dependant.

It’s not mine, this one mine and they ignored it

Current gun spread datamine. Left number horizontal, right vertical

HMS Tiger gun clearly have a bug with 0.5 horizontal instead of 0.25 or so.

Not surprised. You can barely hit a battleship at point blank range with her main guns

This thread has been clogged so badly by people fighting over muh bias.
You make some good points here regarding the issues of FCS and reload disparity. Radar FCS should be roughly superior, followed by the top tier optical designs.

The reload thing as you know, we’ve been fighting over for years. I’m glad they changed Mariya a bit, but they need to go further. Bayern, Rodney, Roma, and all US standards aside from maybe Colorado and Texas should have faster reloads - and I don’t see that breaking the game as much as Gaijin wants to make us think.

My biggest question would be “what should the reload on Soyuz actually be?” The thing was never put in a turret so Gaijin doesn’t have much of a choice here. And that’s without discussing putting reload angles in the game which is an entirely different argument.

Man why Roma feels like a better 8.7 than Yamato even when Roma has her 45s reload and missing belt armour that creates a gap where is very easy to penetrate and detonate her(and also secondary ammo instant death bug that hasnt been fixed unlike Yamato and many more bugs that where reported this week), they tried to 2v1 me just to loose two times their Yamatos and me only loosing a single Roma in exchange(second Roma was lost to fire elevator by a Kronhstadt shooting at the belt armour that is missing, that fire only lasted half a second before magazine detonation, very funny to see wet ammo stowage mod researched doesnt really work with the new fire mechanics gaijin).
I wonder how the statshark statistics will look like for july to see if with a more broad sample size of full month instead of five days, the awful decision of giving her 45s reload was a good one or she really need to lower her reload to 30s. imo after they fix her bugs and if they give her a 30s reload, she can very well be 8.7 worthy, because right now i feel the bugs are being a bigger drawback than the slow reload, specially fire elevator damaging very fast the turret compared to other ships, since it means the turret is guaranteed to be knocked out everytime the elevator is set on fire before you can put it out.

Don’t know why other guns are pretty close together then you have that massive 0.20 points spread only at top tier.
It really mekes Roma and Richelieu guns fire like a shotgun. ( With richelieu it feels a bit better thaks to her reload)

That’s also something that I don’t understand.
In her model Roma has multiple fire doors protecting the charges looking at the X-ray, but in game you explode in less than 8s non the less.

I think Yamato’s players just don’t know how to play their ship yet.
They still go full bow in and get blasted in no time by every BB even a 7.7.
Yamato is a powerful ship but it’s really hard to play, more of a back line sniper than a brawler.

Considering that backline is like 12 km engagement distance on like 75% of maps and matches, that might be where part of the problem lies. When i played her stock with having only he available i got oneshot about 7 times in 5 matches and of those probably 5 times in spawn. even if youre waiting to spawn last everyone and their mother will target you (and your magazines that somehow clip through the armor on some spots afaik and that have 0 compartementalized armor despite most or all new battleships have it and yamato had it irl as people claimed on the bug reporting page. The same magazines somehow also are some of the highest sitting magazines of any bb in game, basically are protected by no or very little armor right next to where the main belt armor stops and are the biggest (by sheer volume) magazines of any of the battleships) And thats not even touching the main problem which is the stupid angled bulkhead in the front and back of the ship turning you even more vulnerable if youre trying to angle. So good luck during all that time that it takes this massive thing to angle, then be completely side on until you have turned away and can slowly crawl away from the enemies that pop up in knife distance to be even somewhat useful (in that case of course showing the angled bulkhead in the back of the ship)

Not gonna lie, i would shoot at it as well, knowing its an easy 10 km one salvo oneshot if i had to spade any other top tier BB. And especially if i were in a sojuz, knowing that i’m basically unkillable unless i sit completely still or dont maneuver and give him time to range in 3 salvos to hit my tiny magazines through 2 unangled bulkheads. easy farming. Balanced as all things should be. and funnily enough with the same repair costs and sl multiplier on both ships. (as of now ofc)

There is a bit of a problem atm, where both the high accuracy of guns, and the armour degradation mechanic makes it that you have 0% chance of survival if 2 shells hit the same belt plate at the same time

You can see in the replay hits, a lot of the time, shells just hit the hull, ignore your whole belt or segmented deck, and go right to the ammo

if gaijin removes that mechanic, yamato would have better chances.

Yeah they really need to do something about it (and the ROMA and possibly other ships/mechanics as well, didnt follow other bug reports because i dont have the other top tier ships). and they need to find a way quick, before too many people get pissed off about this unplayable situation. An efficiency gap from 7 K/D in Soyuz to 4 in Iowa to 1.7 in Yamato is wild. With the according winrates ofc. If it stays anywhere close to the situation it is atm, say good night to top tier naval. It will be 3 soyuz vs 2 soyuz and one iowa and 20 bots for all eternity. I don’t think anyone wants that.

For EC i just started leaving matches if I get killed the first time in the yamato as soon as they have a soyuz up. Even if i could respawn in yamato. Not worth my time and effort. Especially in stupid af arcade where the dominating team can just have endless jets up at high altitude that can just target any bb from safe distances forever (due to the awesome reload of bomb mechanic) basically supressing all opposition unless the other team reacts quick enough and gets capable fighters up there before they sunk all your battleships and drained all your teams spawn points. Well, even if you do manage to catch those jets (the fs business do t14Ts from 1952 and b57s have in naval matches with ships that were outdated 10 years earlier btw?) They then still have the soyuz up, which is farming the whole rest of your team completely unchallenged, amassing enough sp to respawn 5 times even if he catches a lucky torpedo. So I leave as soon as i see ship (new s word so bot doesnt autoflag my posts, quite fitting atm) like that appearing on the horizon. and i wont refrain from telling the 10 people in my team that are still trying (desparately because they will all be in destroyers or light cruisers vs a ship that can’t even be touched if they were in any ship thats not the soyuz or at least the iowa or a yamato that gets extremely lucky) that they are just wasting their time and SL when they could just leave. Because its the truth

if the yamato is anything like World of warships its just a floating ammo rack waiting to go kaboom.

LMAO @ French 152mm having the same garbage dispersion as the fucking Kirov.
There were no dispersion issues with the 152mm, while the 180mm on Kirov had big dispersion issues due to the proximity of each guns.

Same thing with French 203mm having the same dispersion as the Italian’s 203 despite the latter suffering from dispersion for the same reason as Kirov.

“Dispersion is not a balance stat and is based on real life data” yeah sure, and I’m fucking king emperor of the moon.

At this point there’s zero arguments against buffing Richelieu and Roma’s dispersion and /or nerfing Soyuz’s

There never were arguments against nerfing the Soyuz’s gun in the first place (even despite Roma and Richelieu situation) since a fantasy gun, that was never shot in a 3 barrel configuration, let alone was mounted on the ship it was designed for, let alone outfitted with the rangefinding and targetting equipment it would have been using while on the ship, let alone undergone trials on the ship, let alone be fired on the ship at sea has no irl data and all of it is completely fictional. Period.

But if it didn’t have these fantasy stats, it probably wouldn’t be able to achieve a 7:1 K/D so there’s that.
