Nakajima Kikka Prototype

I’ve been going through a rework of Japan for my mod (for a second time) and for it I’m also making a Japanese localization package, so here is the name done correctly assuming that the M7N designation is correct, which seems more likely because the Fujihana never left the drawing board.

This comes out to Nakajima Aircraft | Experimental Kikka Kai Model 21 Ko | M7N1-J Ko.

Considering the ingame one has new engines and had guns that the real Kikka never had, this is a teensy little bit of guesstimation to get the 21型甲 (Model 21 Ko) part. The -J part in M7N1-J is because the guns and classification ingame make it a jet fighter, but because it was classed as a special attacker and this would be a fighter conversion, it becomes M7N1-J instead of M7N1. This is the same reason that the N1K2 has a -J.

It’d be an odd addition, but having this in ground battles could be interesting.

Kikka prototype, would fit more into the light bomber line after the B7A2 aircraft

A plane as useless as this should not be added, it wont be worth playing no matter what Br it is at. If it is to be made usable at least the single 30mm cannon should be added, which then basically gives us the pre engine buff Kikka we had years ago, which i think should be added as a separate plane at around 6.0

Arado 234 B does just fine being slower, also with no guns, but with a better bombload. This will play similarly.

The Arado doesn’t do fine, its useless in any mode other than tank rb (and maybe sim?), and even in tank rb its a very meh attacker compared to others around its br like the 50mm and jabo 262, 229 and 234 C3. Imo it should have it’s prototype gun pods added or removed and made into a reoccurring event vehicle like the Maus.

It is a VERY strong jet bomber in ground modes, and can be almost uncatchable if used properly. The bombsight allows it to stay well out of SPAA range too.

I would argue that the Kikka Prototype is even more useless than the B-2 Arado since the B-2 at least have multiple bomb drops, the Kikka Prototype only has the one bomb drop

Being untouchable doesn’t mean anything if you are basically out of the fight after the bomb drop which the Kikka Prototype would basically be in that situation

So? It’s an attacker. Go back to base and get more ordnance.

Its far from uncatchable, while carrying the bombload it will struggle to break 600kph, any diving prop will easily be able to catch you, and some super props can even easily catch you in a straight line at sea level. And when uptiered against jets its just useless, even with no bombs it wont reach 800kph at sea level. Its speed might make it “untouchable” if it was around 4.7

If it had gunpods (which it historical could have) it would have been a great fighter bomber because of its great turn rate. something like a german Meteor, which has a similar bomb load.

That is still plenty fast and very few props can break 600kph in level flight at low alt anyway. Again, this is an ATTACKER at the same BR as the A-1H, but is far faster and brings a bombsight in return for no guns. It is a balanced trade to make.

Few props can break 600 kph at low alt (Sea level)? lol: Tempest Mk V and Mk II, Hornet MK.III and I, F-82, P-51H and D30, F8F 1 and 1B, F7F, F4U-4B, F2G, A2D, Yak3U and VK-107, La-9, MB.5, J7W, etc. that’s just off the top of my head…

And the A-1h can not only carry enough bombs to make you decent sl and rp in air rb, it can actually be used as a fighter and for CAP in tank rb after using its bomb load, just not having a bomb sight is not a “balanced trade”, that’s ridiculous

If plane is useless for somebody so just don’t fly it

The issue with claiming this plane “useless” that Japan is missing any attacker aircraft at this BR because last bomber which can be used as CAS is 3.7 B7A1 and even just existing of Kikka proto as Attacker aircraft in the TT will add Japanese players the second spawn at GRB

I hope that people who says that it is useless know this problem from which Japanese ~6.x suffers and don’t just look at the plane and say “it is bad, don’t want it” without actual checking other part of tree

They all have terrible acceleration at that speed and the 234 B can dump its bombs anytime to easily evade their chase.

So then move the Kikka prototype down to a lower BR if it’d be that bad.

The Kikka prototype as a light bomber (not a fighter like the in-game Kikka) will have an air launch in air battles, allowing it to quickly attack bases. The lack of Type 5 cannons is not a problem. The in-game Kikka is a hopeless fighter (or maybe I am a hopeless pilot). In ground battles, the Kikka prototype will conduct quick bombing runs and then quickly return to the airfield to re-arm. This tactic will give you greater survivability. American CAS planes may have the same payload as the B-17, but what good does it do them if they fly over the battlefield and are intercepted after dropping only 10% of their payload?

I’m sorry, what?! Kikka?! Hopeless fighter? It is (in my opinion) the strongest 7.0 NON PREMIUM jet fighter you can find in any TT, great acceleration from inertia (due to RATO) good acceleration in flight (much better than F-80 or 262, and any other) great energy retention for energy traps, 2 cannons with, eh mediocre amount of ammo, but who cares, you don’t need anything more than 6 hits to kill something, it is a very good fighter for it’s BR, I remember how ridiculous OP Kikka used to be when it was 6.7, but still great, and a ton of fun
