Maybe he will post a rifle or something in the near future 🖖
Honestly, I don’t play War Thunder for the infantry. My reflexes are too slow (probably because anything above 7.3 is almost unplayable for me) for games with automatic weapons, so infantry won’t be enjoyable for me (it starts with the Cold War, so there will be a lot of automatic weapons). Additionally, Japanese infantry will probably be added a year or two after infantry is added to the game.
I bet they will also expand downwards…I also bet they plan on also adding WW1 eventually (April Fools event in addition to their new game). Have you considered making any WW1 suggestion if you got will and time of course : D
Hope you stick around.
Gajin effectively killed my motivation to write suggestions. After the Q&A with BVVD, where they explicitly stated there were too many vehicles from the WWII and earlier Cold War eras, my motivation was killed. I’ve already had a few crises with writing suggestions where I had no motivation (for example, after adding Thailand), but after the announcement in the 8th community update, I knew what was coming. Gajin is now only interested in money, and WWII and Cold War vehicles don’t generate any. See the Malaysian addition; it’s three planes from the post-1990 period, no earlier aircraft.
I really don’t see the point in wasting any more time and money writing suggestions if Gajin doesn’t care. I’ve probably wasted over 2,000 hours on the forum writing suggestions.
I’m not abandoning the forum itself; I’ll continue to fight for the much-needed vehicles for Japan to finally be added. There are also 24 pending suggestions.
I understand that, I just think that WW1 will be added sooner or later and would be nice to see WW1 era and early 20 Japanese aircraft on forum. Thanks for all the suggestions you have written, it was always nice learning more about Japanese WW2 technology from you. o7
I wish WW1 planes would come, but I think its highly unlikely unfortunately, because it’s said they’re exclusively for that VR game
so was infantry for Enlisted…
Enlisted features infantry from the WW2 era. War Thunder will feature infantry from the Korean War-present day. Gajin will not limit his earnings from other games.
yes but that is VR game right? Which also features WW2 planes
why did J2M aircraft use Type 99 model 1 and model 2, why not just one or the other?
The J2M1 and J2M2 were armed with two Type 99 Model 1 cannons. Later, during the development of the J2M3, the armament was increased with additional 20mm cannons. The Japanese decided to continue using the older Type 99 Model 1s, as they had a large number of them, so they added two Type 99 Model 2 cannons with improved performance, although fewer were produced. Ko versions were developed for the J2M3, J2M5, and J2M6, armed with four Type 99 Model 2 cannons, but these were only prototypes.
Oh thanks truly appreciate that. Are there any Japanese reports of pilots complaining about the aiming or they were fine with it?
Gaijin: “We will continue to add WW2 vehicles.”
Gaijin: “There are not too many WW2 vehicles in the game.”
I hope Gaijin’s policy never changes and they continue to add WW2 vehicles.
2025 saw more WW2 additions to War Thunder than 2024, and that’s not even counting ships.
The main issue I have with their policy is that there’s just disproportionately more WWII content than top tier, while the rate of game additions is exactly the other way around.
If they keep going like this the game will run out of top tier additions before we saw many of the interesting unique older vehicles that War Thunder could be the first game to feature. Which itself is an issue because the hype from regular updates, particularly top tier, is the main driving force of this games popularity for the casual majority of players.
That and having WWII additions be mainly events or premiums, but this is mostly an issue of techtrees not having nearly enough space and will probably be fixed once more players move to higher resolution screens.
The most expensive part of developing War Thunder is the quality of life features.
Most WW2 additions are tech tree currently, both in the sparse 2024 additions, and the more plentiful 2025 additions [which were only 6 additions less than equality between WW2 and other facets].
Tech trees currently have more than enough space as they’re not even 50% filled in any low rank.
I don’t like the misinformation about Gaijin stopping WW2 when they’ve said they’re continuing to add, and 2025 saw more additions than 2024.
It’s not helpful…
Gaijin will continue to add WW2, and by extension 6.7 and below vehicles.
Just as Gaijin “stopped” adding modern tanks to the game when that was saturated, they’ll “stop” on aircraft as well when F-35s are added.
Gaijin’s model has always been seek closure then fill in later.
That is theoretical space, not practical. We also need to consider research progression logic, which means vehicles will be sorted by type, vehicle folders need to make sense and BRs need to be mostly in order.
Then most holes at any tiers are generally the SPAA lines, which Gaijin deliberately don’t fill as much as other lines (I’d love more personally, but I can see why some wouldn’t want to research as many SPAAs as medium tanks for example)
So in practice it looks a lot different. For example here is the space left for vehicles from new vehicle families / types in the first three ranks of US air:
- Red (I can’t use red text, just pretend it’s red) is free spaces that are already there, which is three (3)
- Orange is free spaces that can be made by moving folders in a logical way, which is an additional four (4)
These are then additionally limited to being specific lines for fighters (5), attack aircraft (1) and bombers (1), rather than just spaces free for use.
Only vehicles that can be reasonably grouped with existing ones can be added outside of these limitations, unless we see some changes to the research tree structure or layout.
This is in no way enough to fit the hundreds of unique aircraft that the US could have to offer here.
I hope…
