Missle detection using aircraft radar

Probably Datalinked tbh, or using something to guide based off of emissions in an over the shoulder shot, you’re right it doesn’t really get a lot of coverage as to how it’s possible, really cool feature though

Why is my old radar picking up every missile flying round the map then?

Its one of the most annoying things in WT. I especially like how the radar loves locking friendlies and missiles with a click every time while refusing to lock.enemies in the same game…

Selection bias imo, u only remember the times when ur radar messed up and not the 90 percent of the time that ur radar does well

I too blindly trust the belief confirmation parrot to give me accurate and useful information.

Because the distances in WT are so short. A missile at 10km is going to look just as big as a jet at 75km (not exact numbers, just random examples). In the same way you can hold up your hand Infront of you and cover an entire bus that is 500m away (or the moon ~385.000km away) the area of the field of view something covers is dependant on distance.

But most radars IRL have PD filters to avoid just that and i hope it gets implemented into the game in some form.

If theres a group of players with a friendly in the mix you cant lock anything but friendly. Its always been like this…

Ik what you mean but like imo you can always just not fire into fur balls unless you have a missile that has datalink reconnect. If you don’t have one then you can’t really control where your missiles is going

In the su30sm hud/radar mfd it actually labels the contacts as missile or the Id of the air craft itself, if they could implement that onto the normal on screen radar display for all planes that would be great. Though only planes with nctr would get this I think

R27r/er and aim7p has datalink reconnect that’s what i was alluding to earlier which is why it’s fine to fire those into fur balls

As you can see in vid theres only me, enemy and a dead friendly…

If it cant work even in this senario then id call it complely broken
