Mikoyan MiG-29K (9.31): Fulcrum Goes to Sea

Exactly; no R-77-1, no R-77M, no R-74, no Kh-31PD nor AD; they’ve added the MiG-29KR 9.41R and nerfed it to MiG-29K 9.31 standard for “balance” instead of just adding the 9.31. It’s ridiculous.

another vehicle that goes in the bin of the “at this point why even add it?”

Probably because if it gets r-77-1 it will go up to 14.3 or 14.0.

And 32 cms at those brs will be horrendous to play.

J-15t is already bad enough at 14.7 with 48 cms, getting even less than that is pretty terrible

14.0 with r-77-1 will be better than now r-77 vs 14.7 planes and 32 cms mig-29SMT is much better on 13.3.

They’re probably keeping the MiG-35S for that role

But how long will we have to wait for it? I just finished SMT; I’m currently playing KR, and I think SMT is much better solely because of its 13.3 BR, despite having fewer air-to-air missiles and a weaker engine. Still, 13.7 BR often ends up facing 14.7 BR, and the R-77s aren’t good enough against top-tier planes. So there are only two options: lower the BR to 13.3, or add the R-77-1, increase countermeasures, and raise the BR to 14.0—looking at planes like the Mirage at 14.0 or the F/A-18A.

Idk, it’s common knowledge that Gaijin prefers Flankers so no one knows.
But yeah it would be nice at 14.0, we already have the M at 13.7 after all

Yea, M version, which is a slightly better platform for air-to-air missiles at same BR

russia doesnt operate the M version.

Well no one operates the 9.15 right?

I thought he was talking about 9.41 M version

+1 for more Russian Naval Aviation

That should have been TT as well honestly. Not that the Soviets really needed another squadron with the Su-33 already existing (and that should have been TT too…) but there were so many better options. Personally I’d’ve picked the MiG-29S 9.13S.

Oh alright, yeah I should’ve been more clear when I said the M
