The MiG-35S is a 4++ generation multi role fighter made by the UAC that is currently in limited service with the Russian aerospace forces (VKS), and is the VKS adaptation of the MiG-29M/MiG-35 Family. The MiG-35 in service with the VKS very similar to the MiG-29M overall using alot of the same equipment, compared to earlier prototype/export unit MiG-35s that had a more advanced radar and avionics.

Aircraft history:

The history of the MiG-35S in Russian service starts in December 2014 when the VKS put down an order for 2 pre production single-seater MiG-35S blue 702 and twin-seater MiG-35UB blue 712 and they would take to the skies for the first time in November/December 2016 for the first flight tests, after the new year in January 2017 the new jets would be presented to the Russian military and political leaders and representatives for potential foreign customers at the Luchovice production plant. Both airframes would undergo a program of racing tests in December 2017 at the Luchovice production plants corporate airfield and the completion of state tests were originally planned for completion in mid 2018, however these plans were not fulfilled. The state tests would not commence until May 2018 at the State Testing and Development Center (GLIC) in Akhtubinsk. In June 2019 two more units would join the state test program the single seat Blue 10 and twin seat blue 11, both of these were ordered back in February 2017 and delivered in May 2019. In June 2021 it was announced that the state trails were completed and the plans for the Russian MOD acquisition of 24 MiG-35S/UB. However only 6 units have been delivered so far with blue 14, 15 and 16 and the twin seat blue 12 being delivered in first half of 2020, the second batch would be delivered to the air force in march 2021 with blue 17 and blue 14. however no new delivers to the Russian air force of new MiG-35s have been made since.
