MiG-29KR

Aircraft info:

Spoiler

The MiG-29KR 9.41R is the navalized version of the second generation 4++ MiG-29 family from 2005 and is part of the Russian naval aviation branch of the Russian navy, and is a carrier capable 4++ multi role fighter. The Aircraft has been fully adapted for service onboard Russia’s only semi-usable aircraft carrier with: folding wings for ease of storage onboard, arrestor hook for landing and reinforced undercarriage to make it be able to withstand the harsher requirements for carrier operations.

Aircraft history:

Spoiler

The need for a carrier capable multi role fighter started with the development of the project 1143.5-class aircraft carriers and would lead to the development of the MiG-29K (9.31) which would eventually have its program cancelled due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. The program for a carrier capable MiG-29 would eventually be revived in the future with the Indian navy needing a carrier capable after the Indian government had purchased the Russian navy’s deactivated Admiral Gorshkov carrier and it would be refurbished and renamed to the INS Vikramaditya. The Mikoyan bureau would offer them the initial 9.31 variant but it was deemed unacceptable and in need for upgrading, it would lead to the development of the MiG-29K 9.41 which would be chosen as their primary fighter for the INS Vikramaditya air wings. In 2012 the Russian navy would place an initial order of 24 medium-heavy multi-role combat aircraft of the MiG-29KR 9.41R/KUBR 9.47R to replace their aging fleet of Su-33s which had their technical life span set to expire in 2015. The Russian variants would differ from the initial 9.41/9.47 variants with the usage of more domestic Russian electronics and be designated MiG-29KR 9.41R for the single seater and MiG-29KUBR 9.47R for the twin seater variant. On October 15th the first production variants of the 9.41R and 9.47R would take to the skies for the first time, and would be accepted for service officially in November 2013 with the first four production variants.

I love these navalization that is done, and this one is no exception, expanding further than the Yak-141.

yeah sov/rus naval aviation is very cool, also hope this goes after the Yak-141 since its kinda not much else going on there at the moment. There is like the 90s MiG-29K 9.31 that can be added there and if they feel like adding a tech tree Su-33 aswell

it’s not a bad air craft but 90s mig-29m is so much better because it actually gets cms with 120 of em. even 2005 mig-29m is terrible because only 32 cms.
Also these aircraft are limited to only 6 r-77s compared to the 8 of the 90s mig-29m which is annoying

Love the cockpit of the 29UB used on this, should improve visibility quite a bit in sim. Give the mig29 a FM rework and add this with the Hungarian UB (6R73 only) as a squad vehicle and the MiG35. A nice big fulcrum update
