Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

aren’t Egyptian and Algerian ones designated as 9-61 and 9-67?

well, Series 2 is service life upgrade, in terms of thrust or fuel consumption they are pretty much the same as OG RD-33. Only ones that had thrust difference are RD-33K and RD-33MK.

Tbh I have heard both being used, the naming scheme on these modern migs change every few years it seems

Makes sense, if you count how hard MiG tried to sell new Fulcrums to keep itself afloat and the unification together with Sukhoi into OAK as well. At least MiG-35 got a completely new name so we can differentiate it properly.

Still with the mig 35 it’s not 100% clear since the name has been used on like 2-3 different planes

Mostly on demonstrators of different MiG-29Ms iirc, and they usually have 9-X chassis number to go alongside it. For modern MiG-35 i haven’t seen a single mention of a chassis number.

only chassis number for the MiG-35 is the latest Russian air force versions using 9-41RS for MiG-35S and 9-47SR for MiG-35UB

as for the MiG-35 MRCA variant i have not heard any new chassis number. i think it can still be classed as a 9-15 since the MRCA is just heavily upgraded from the inital 154 prototype from the 80s/90s, altough its been upgraded so much AESA etc, it should have a new chassis number but i just havent heard any new number

Yea one of the stat sheets for it doesn’t have a chassis number unfortunately

is this for the MRCA variant?

Confirms serial production mig-35 still uses n010m instead of a pesa/aesa

good to have confirmation on this atleast, was also hearing about something called the N041 being used but it seems like its just a Russian designation for it from what ive gathered

Yeah they’re all just different designations for essentially the same radar, just upgraded over time (Zhuk m/me)

Anyone know if there are digital copies anywhere available of yefin gordon MiG-29 books?

After playing out the early MiG-29 including the G and now SMT, God I really wish we could retain both MiG-29 light frame with SMT Avionics.

MiG-29 are just mid as hell, but R-60M really makes it worse due to how easily it eats flares.

Other than the lack of the gamer neck the only difference from the current SMT is that it doesn’t get the extra 56cm launchers under the plane

Very good book. Glad i got one in time.

Never saw digital copies of those books.

MiG-29M 9.15 Is basically that

That plane is also unfortunately stuck with spo15
