True, tho having 2 more to just sling with an HMD lock is not that bad.
I say HMD just because even if the Zhuk M of the smt is good, the r77 long range performance is non existent, so most of the launches end up being well within the range of the HMD.
From what I understand the 29M is gonna get the base Zhuk radar, so I think it might rely on HMD locks even more.

I’m pretty sure he meant that the 29M (being a 90’s jet) wouldn’t have the ability to carry better R-77’s, unlike the F-16C that you mentioned, which can carry newer amraams.

I wouldnt say that. I would sooner pick anything else over a mig29(despite really liking the aircraft) it has incredibly mediocre a2a capabilities, and it has pretty bad a2g capabilities(its better nowadays thanks to glide bombs). I would pick even a m2k over it, its cheap and easy to service but im surprised there was never an attempt to make a modern single engine fighter by russia or the soviets.
And theres an argument to be made that comparably speaking mig29s are better today than they were when just put into service.
Base model r77s are still great. We have 29k and 35 for r-77-1.
I think the guy before was more of talking irl performance of MiG-29 rather than in-game.
And for the game honestly, MiG-29 suffers from bad coverage tbh, if it wouldn’t be for the FM nerf, and didn’t get overtiered, it’s actually pretty decent aircraft.
The G (If not uptiered) and SMT are decent imo

It used to be “Okay” before the Gen 4.5 coming, with Gen 4.5, it really kills every 13.0 Aircraft potential.
I’d remember the glory day that MiG-29 can dogfight anything, if its FM still same as the original, I think that would make MiG-29 even better than F-2 due to MiG-29 have HMD at way much lower BR (13.0 for MiG-29G specifically).

If the 13.0 br range gets a consistent decompression the MiG-29 could very much benefit from it.
Mig29k and mig35 arent selling for a reason. They dont offer anything that china/france/usa dont do better. Hell su35s already are on the cheap end so if you can afford those why go for a mig35 which whilst better for the a2a role offers worse everything else?
Calling them great is an over statement imo, base R-77 is an average missile at best

within its parameters i agree its good but the missiles overall parameters are quite small which limits its overall capability in game
