It’s arcade values apparently
why does it get correct (or more correct) thrust values in Arcade than realistic
Thrust data that you thinking about is so called “stand thrust” when engines get placed into an aircraft, depending on design of air intakes there will be a thrust reduction and gaijin takes that into consideration.
Ok smarty pants
This is absolute bullshit, the mig-29As engines (RD-33) have around 500kgf channel loss resulting in a total of 7800kgf as stated in the flight manual
The true reason why we have 6800kgf ingame is because the engines in Warthunder run on 8350RPM instead of the true 10.000RPM
AKA - the 29 in warthunder are operating in Peacetime mode
What plane other than the 21-bis get wartime/emergency mode?
Emergency thrust and Wartime thrust are 2 seperate things.
Wartime thrust is what is usually used during times of war where performance is needed.
On the MiG-29s for example the peacetime mode reduces the engines RPM to 8350RPM (exact RPM as in Warthunder) greatly reducing thrust, but also fuel burn and especially engine wear .
Its Wartime mode has the usual 10.000RPM thats displayed in Handbooks and so on.
The MiG-29 itself doesnt have an “Emergency mode” above the usual 10.000RPM, but some countries like germany opted to make their peacetime mode (8350RPM) permanent for their modernisation programs so that the aircraft had a longer operational lifetime without engine replacements.
So the only Mig-29 in Warthunder with its actual thrust modelled correctly is the MiG-29G, as the 8350RPM mode was the permanently used by the Luftwaffe.
Not all, but most 4th and 4.5th gens have peacetime engine modes (Including EF, Gripen and Rafale)
In contrast most 5th gens dont seem to have such a mode and always fly at full power
i can’t find a single source telling that RD-33 works with 10k RPM, every single source that i could find shows 8317 RPM max with afterburner. So unless you have a solid proof you are just talking nonsense.

its literally in the cockpit lmao
-
would you be able to show me what sources sa the 29 is limited to 8350 RPM?
Otherwise I wouldnt understand why the RPM Gauge goes up to 12.000RPM
It’s what they should do with all 9.12 variants MiG-29G included.
“literally in the cockpit” means nothing. It’s just an indicator. I saw a tractor with a speedometer going as high as 120 kph, but surprise surprise, this tractor could barely reach speed above 60 kph. And as of my source - i looked into “Виноградов А.С. Конструкция ТРДДФ РД-33” digital study guide.
you mind sending me a picture?
cause a museum which has access to the RD-33 engines through the 29G program here in germany says otherwise
https://luftfahrtmuseum-rothenburg.de/triebwerke/triebwerk-rd-33/
here you go, this is part of the table with RPM data for afterburner
and this is for non-afterburner
regardless if your, or my source is right
the thrust should be 7800kgf
the Handbook says it black on white
are you sure that it is installed thrust?
i would think so
otherwise it would be kinda hard getting the thrust curves
imo it is alot easier to just get the curvs from testing instead of trying to calculate them,
but thats just speculation on my part
there is a reason I added this screenshot
The engines standalone thrust is 8300kgf, not 7800-8000kgf
Also 500kgf is a much more realistic amount of channel loss than fucking 1500kgf
well, in wt for example F-15 has 20+% loss, which would be even more than 5000 pounds(for PW-220 engine).
coincidentally im currently looking into those engines as it seems like gaijin added some massive Channel loss there too
Just for a perfect example jet so you can understand what realistic channel loss should look like.
The tornado has 7090kgf thrust ingame and the engine alone irl has 7440kgf.
So you can see, those channel loss values of 1000-2000kgf are completly stupid and not based on real info.
Idk why I am even explaining it, the handbook says black on white that 7800kgf is with channel loss
Is this handbook classified? Or you can share it? I would like to check the info, especially if it’s in Russian.
yes its unclassified, there you go
