Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

Next update they’ll ask for the sm2

People are already asking for it. Because 30SM is so mid

R-73M never entered Russian service, it died in the 90s like many things did.

it should go R-73 → R-74M → R-74M2 IR AAM wise for Russia.

also since I’m here, got something from my archive abt MiG-29SE:

If its flight performance they want mig29m would be a better Idea… Afaik su30sm2 Will have a good climb rate but it’ll perform kinda mid in bfm

and that’s better than what we have currently. Engines is really bad

I think the mig29 got slightly improved in terms of energy retention, but it’s kinda negligible.

1500 is the rip speed/when flight got dangerous, not when the aircraft stops accelerating due to drag. However, that’s for the original mig 29, but this should still apply to the smt. Because of the 1.05 rip speed multiplier, the smt is faster in game than irl on the deck

Now that the “maneuver mode button” proved that it’s possible to change characteristics of the instructor midgame, it’s time for them to add a setting on which you can set by yourself the AOA limit of the instructor, that would make the 29 and other planes much better in sustained duels.

You should post this as a suggestion

I might write one later, should be easier than suggesting a new vehicle :)

I feel like “Maneuver mode” isnt exactly changes Instructor per say, but rather just disables some of it aspects like AOA limitations (and turns. With Maneuver ON if you try to turn jet will try via yawn controls instead of rolling and using both)

It turns the AOA limit off but they keep other stuff (rudder for example), it shouldn’t have much difference between that and setting other values for it

On a contrary, the custom valuables are more complex than simple True/False switch. Still, worth throwing at Suggestions

@Giovanex05 if you’d like we can test the turn performance against some other turn rate data (also provided by the primary source, MiG)

I don’t have much time or patience to test the aircraft in-game atm but for the same conditions and at sea level, full throttle, this is what stat shark says; Red line is the aforementioned document’s curve roughly mapped onto the statshark page.

According to this document, at 0% SEP (sustained turn) the MiG-29 is overperforming a bit in-game.

i mean at the end the problem is still the f-16 massivly ocerperforming

F-16 isn’t over performing in sustained turns afaik

Yeah, sure, more confirmation will be welcome

It has been slightly overperforming after Oswald was tuned to 0.63 from 0.62 back in November 2023 when I reported an also slight (but more important than this one since it was at lower altitude) underperformance at low speed sea level. The report was addressed as not a bug but the slight adjustment was made to fix it.

A and ADF models are. When I reported it thought, after multiple times, they just said “we don’t adjust slow speed rate” Community Bug Reporting System
