Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

27EP are imbalanced or what? Missiles completely ignore 3-9 and dipoles, even if you throw buckets out of the cockpit. How so???
And I noticed the missile launch on the SPO and I start maneuvering on time and spam dipoles, but still the missile is more effective than 120!

Can you provide video examples of this

Tried flying the OG 9.13 after a year without touching it, not terrible but far from good. In the current state of top tier there’s no reason to not give it r73s.

Like cmon you have a 4x r60m +2 r27er loadout at 12.7 then 0.3 more you get the su27 with 4 r73s + 6 r27er, this is a significant leap for such a small br difference, also the “r73s are op” argument that gaijin used 2 years ago doesn’t have the same applicability nowadays.

What is the current Oswald number for the MiG-29 in game?
Also where is this source from?

I could be wrong but i think the ingame oswald coefficient isn’t the same parameter as the one described in the manuals

In-game oswald parameter apparently doesn’t coincide directly with real world oswald calculations and the two cannot be compared.

Where is this sheets document from?

MiG-29SMT in game might have a wrong weight: empty weight in game is 11600kg, but multiple sources list 11600kg as the weight of the 9-17 SMT, which has a FAR bigger spine fuel tank. MiG-29SMT Multipurpose fighter - RedStar.

Empty weight in game includes weapons and some other bits, also that link you posted wouldn’t even count as a secondary source

I know, but Yefim gordon’s book and other stuff do count as secondary sources. Also empty weight in game doesn’t include weapons, it just includes the fluids to operate the aircraft and the pilot

I still dont understand why we didnt get the 3rd version but rather stuck with this whale.

Also that Spine looks so ugly.

Only reason might be the fact that 9-19R saw limited production (a more practical one might be that they feared R-73 being too strong when they first released them) instead of staying in the prototype/pre production limbo that many MiG-29 versions are (MiG-29M 9-15, MiG-35, MiG-29K 9-31 and so on)

Still no idea why they haven’t yet made some sort of modification (maybe a folder) with the 9-18 MiG-29SMT. It would also be extremely easy to do because lighter weight of the radar would probably be compensated with the fuel probe weight, so they could just slap the current mig-29A fm on it and call it a day. Only trade off would be no extra 56 CM (which I would absolutely take since 60 is enough after we can split chaff and flares).

Still let’s hope for MiG-29M and K 9-31 together in December since we are getting the F-18C.

Yeah lol

yeah it would be perfectly fine to add them already, we have had magic 2’s at lower BR’s for a quite a while now and the playerbase has adapted well. Additionally given the large importance of avionics/radar in wt nowdays(as it should be), factors which are some gigantic downsides for the early russian 4th gens, i think it would be pretty balanced overall. IMO i think they should just finally bite the bullet and add the archers, fix the fm and take away the ER from 9.12/13’s - give us the mig that we should’ve had from the get-go, then give it a patch or two to see how the balance turns out & adjust the br appropriately.

This was BS since the yemeni air force used 9-18 MiG-29SMTs (same thing without the fat spine)

I wish people would stop posting misinformation for players to talk about.

From what Giovannex pointed out multiple times MiG-29 is probably not underperforming.

Other planes are just absurdly overperforming and by a big margin…
