Looks like the wing sweep should be fully manual like flaps though. iirc auto wing sweep was a major advancement used on the F-14

These are the recommended values based on the conditions of flight safety restrictions for pilots!..The wing is fixed in any available position (with available ACS-SOUA connections) or manual mode …
Wing mode (takeoff 16 degrees)-this is an automatic mode …
the pilots of the 16 VA-on the MiG-23ML-experimented with 33 degrees…there are their memories…

Wing sweep is not automated, but the leading edge flaps become automated and there are not stick limiters that require additional pressure for override similar to MiG-29 system. A “kicker” that notifies pilot without needing to look at the cockpit panel that he is near maximum permissible AoA or G load.

Generally for a dogfight, there is a notch in which he can focus on enemy, and feel to slip the wing position into and keep it at 33 degrees. The primary focus of these changes is keeping your eye on the enemy and knowing when you are at the aircrafts limits without having to look back down at the dash.

Since it’s relevant for fixing the MiG-29 flight model, notice the AoA indicator on the right hand side using localhost. The F-16 is capable of exceeding 90 degrees angle of attack in coupled pitch - yaw - roll and then recovering (with full control the entire time) in less than 1/4 of a turn.

Obviously I am not campaigning to have the MiG-29 do the same thing, but in real life the MiG-29 was superior in post-stall handling and recovery than the F-16, the MiG-29 being fully stable and the F-16 being fully unstable. In-game the opposite is true of both, where the MiG-29 requires precarious handling of it’s AoA to prevent departure and the F-16 can put the nose wherever it wants like it’s an Su-57.

What? No only up to 6 R-27R/ER or 4 R-27R/ER + 2 R-27T/ET. Plus 4 R-73 or 2 R-73 and ECM

Maybe I was thinking max number of R-77s? Looks like you’re correct. It’s still 10 better missiles than the F-15 could carry, to include the AMRAAM.

Su-27SK(?) Su-27SM/SM3 can carry only up to 8 R-77 + 2 R-73 .Su-33 Su-30M… Su-34 Su-35 can carry up to 8 R-27/E. Or up to 10 R-77 + R-73.
( Su-35 can 12 R-77 with dual R-77 pylon between engine. )

On the MiG-23M late and MiG-23ML (SOUA)…On the MiG-23MLD (SOS-Signal restriction System)…On these variants, the Overpowering of the RUS (Handle Control of the Aircraft) is provided…

The third source might be useful in bug reporting the MiG-23MLD, as I believe it’s underperforming in AoA, sustained turn rate. Do you have more information in there? Let’s move this to DM’s to avoid taking the thread further off topic.

-edit- Further testing seems to indicate MiG-23MLD is limited from 26-27 degrees AoA in 33 degree sweep. During sudden pitchup at 0.4-0.6 mach it can achieve sometimes ~30 degrees. 33 degrees is not attainable.

Phazotron OKB-339 never developed an advance radar for the Mig29. Because their radar did not fit. Soviets resorted to using an upgraded version of the Mig23 radar which was already completely exploited by the US. This radar was called the NO19. All Mig29 radars are derivatives of the Mig23 radar. Not only that, Adolf Tolkachev who worked at Phazotron gave the CIA all the details for the Mig29s radar & also R-23,R-24, R-33, R-27 R-60 S-300, MiG-31and Su-27.

The Su27 had the advanced radar. Mig29 radar was a cheap alternative in which the US already knew everything they needed to know about. Nothing impressive about it. Been reading it all day.

Well, as stated the N019(MP) radar was only fitted to the 9-17 SMT-1 prototypes… SMT model in-game uses N010M…
