Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-29 Fulcrum - History, Design, Performance & Dissection (Part 1)

I think we should make a MiG-29M 9-15 suggestion 1 week after patch drops if we want to see it in the game, as imho it’s an aircraft like the Mirage4000 that won’t be considered too much unless people want it

I wanted to know a bit more about the r74 tho, weeks ago i was searching about it and i couldn’t find any relevant info about the missile and how much it differs from the old r73

Ur correct sir, how do we do that? I’ll gladly help to share the suggestion

With a post in the suggestion area.

We should do a a research presenting the aircraft history, historical load out (explaining what weapons could carry and which of them would suit the game if introduced now), performance and why it would be cool if introduced in the game.

If I remember correctly R-74M has digital seeker with improved IRCCM, boresight angle and manoeuvrability

I’ll keep my answer simple and short because it can be. I’ve been playing this game for ten years and throughout those ten years I’ve witnessed many “X is going to break the game” arguments, and they ended up being just fine.

I still remember how you could go under flak for suggesting planes with afterburners like the Yak-19.

So in my opinion no, the way you put it, I don’t agree that there is a sweet tech spot or otherwise game-breaking. Only how much the community is willing to accept changes in the way they play top tier.

I read that on wikipedia but i couldn’t find documents or advanced info describing the missile. I think when the time comes it’ll be a bit complicated for them to correctly model it, not that it’ll be a big issue they could just model r74 using the same logic they applied to the stinger while comparing to the igla anyway

Try visiting this while it’s still up. Unfortunately for over a year I have not been able to edit it due to an error so there may be inaccuracies since more info was discovered over time.

Basically the R-74M is an R-73 with a modern Impuls-90 seeker with modern IRCCM (honestly forgot which type, I’m very out of touch as of recently), an increased gimbal of 45° to 75° and like a doubled off boresight capability to 120°. The max g limit is 60g.

He has a good point tho

It’ll be hard af or even impossible to correctly model these modern vehicles

ty man will definitely take a look

I agree with this point but tech-wise nothing will be game-breaking, just new styles of gameplay.

true, ppl always said that the missiles would kill the game and here we are with a plane carrying 6 27ERs lmao

They’ll get used to this one as well, it’s not an exception lol

It’s always the same cycle. New tech/balance ceiling tested → community is outraged and starts complaining → Gaijin releases said update → everyone gets used to it and even starts to enjoy it

I have no experience on selecting good/accurate sources and explaining technical terms but i can try to do something about it, i can research some info, send to you and then you can check if it’s relevant or not :)

that part would be easy to explain:

-the 9.15 could serve to fill the gap between the 9.13 and the SMT;
-Russia is lacking a light mig29 with the capability of carrying archers and many mig enthusiasts will be looking for it.

I’m confident that if we manage to get a considerable amount of ppl to become aware of the suggestion gaijin will approve the plane, after all the effort that it would take to add this vehicle wouldn’t be much considering that they’ll most likely just copy and paste the current mig 9.12 FM and do some adjustments, change some values and that’s it. I’ll share with all my buddies if we make the suggestion

Also we could state that the 9.15 would be a better analogue to the f16C than the SMT is

The only problem I have with it is that it’s only a prototype, so it feels a little off. If the USSR broke up later it would have been introduced.

Yes but imho we are already at a point where the way air RB works has reached a limit already if missiles were implemented correctly. If ground multipath gets more realistic (and not a 100m get out of jail card) with the current 16v16 clusterfucks and the weird spotting system the game would already be close to turning into almost instant death 2 min after take off considering how most war thunder players play.

And in general the problem game breaking wise Is not so much with modern technology but on how the different nations would balance if we go beyond the early 2000s.
No one knows how the different modern aircraft fare against each other, but F-22s would probably just murder everything else.

In general though the fact that models would be mostly fantasy is the bigger problem

I think it wouldn’t be so bad if they had the enduring confrontation mode sim uses but for air RB with better objectives and stuff. It could also be a shorter 45 minute match instead of 3 hours.

Allow people to re-spawn and give people 0 points for killing enemies within the same square as their airfield unless they’ve been hovering there for >2 minutes… rules like this to fix spawn camping and other issues.

Well I seemed to remember that the 156 prototype would have been the final aircraft and that they had started making the serial production line to produce it unlike, for example, the yak141 whose prototype was still not the production version.

Still imho with a suggestion they would at least think about it, as it is also an iconic plane considering the OVT (which Is quite famous) is the 156 with thrust vectoring added.

This is actually a great idea also for props
