Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25 & MiG-31 Foxbat / Foxhound - History, Design, Performance & Dissection

Did anyone report the MiG-25 airbrake opening while the fuel tank is on?

It literally clips through the tank, should be like the MiG-29 where you are unable to use the airbrake I guess.

Is it just me or the MiG-25 doesn’t have LD/SD in the game? The RP-25M should have it.

it does, you just have to fly high enough, like with MiG-23. At certain altitude radar will give you ability to change the range as well as tilt it down or up

I test flew it yesterday at high altitudes, I don’t recall seeing MTI at any point

oh, if you are talking about MTI - it works exactly the same as on the MiG-23. You must be below 1.5 km of altitude and there must be terrain behind the target

MIG 31 shooting 73

Theres a music video called “Migs of Fire” that had a similar if not same shot, but I do not know about the original source.

I am still trying to understand how people are getting so ‘gaga’ over the MiG-25PD. I have tried the test flight at varying altitudes, and the only time it seems to really come into its own is indeed at like 20km or higher… which takes quite a while to climb to.

However, the majority of missions involve situations that are exceedingly lower to within ~8km or less, at which I feel like the performance of this is just… a bus that can’t push past roughly mach 1.2 and loses everything in one slow turn… Not to mention the small choice of armament…

IDK, maybe I am doing something wrong, or perhaps it just is not for me, but I feel like it is being oversold by the masses when in reality it is anything but… Albeit I do really enjoy the way it looks.

Maybe it is one of those, mostly meant just for collectors…

Can’t speak for the others, but I just like the aircraft, it’s looks and sadly it’s only going to exist as an event variant for now but I take what I can get. Hopefully the other variants come into the game soon enough with changes to maps/modes to allow aircraft like these to thrive (strategic bomber mode?).

I also like it, even though I think it’s botched in some ways. It’s still going to work and be fun.

Yeah pretty much, I love doing flybys over ground units (popping flares in aircraft that have it) and love when its done when I’m a ground unit too. The jet sounds are pretty excellent compared to the past.

It is absolutely not, the main strength of the F-16 is its agility and maneuvrability while the main strength of the Mig-25 is its speed.

Chipping at either planes main strength has adverse effects. It barely affect the F-15 for example, while it would affect the Mig-25 immensely.

Your demands are just plain idealist and unnecessary, it dosent matter if its speed or pull, these limiters arent all static and in a vacuum across the board. The USAF and USSRs PVO had completely different standards for “acceptable max speed”. Hence the way you want to judge these speeds is completely arbitrary and wrong.

I am suprised that nobody else is calling this out.

I saw this on a MiG-25 edit

Has anyone noticed the mig25 might have a flight model bug.

I took it out in a test flight yesterday and noticed it banks to the right. Just a few degrees but if unchecked it just keep going.

I’m guessing the aileron trim is isn’t set to zero.

You’ll only notice this if you use realistic controls and a joystick, mouse aim is uneffected.

couldnt be that a joystick drift?

I had thought that initially but other aircraft aren’t affected by it.
