MiG-23 Nerf Discussion 2024 (Outdated)

It’s a pity, but that’s the reality of it. The aerodynamic performance of variable-geometry fighter jets has always been poor. Whether it’s the MiG-23 developed since the 1960s or the F-14 Tomcat in service since the 1970s, their only distinction in the game is that the Tomcat’s aerodynamic performance was initially realistically portrayed, whereas the MiG-23 has only recently been treated the same way.

gaijin nerfing the mig23 while is been known for like years that the in game F5s out perform their real life counterparts (iirc the F5E in game out performs the real life F20)

I cant wait for these nerfs. Now all they need to do is move the Mig-23ML from 11.0 to 11.3 in SB. Total Russian P2W bias for that one.

But at least now other nations might stand a chance against a Mig-23

These nerfs are LONG over due, glad they finally found the docs to nerf them.

The Mig-23ML. As seen clearly in that image… has an 11.0 SB BR. Should be 11.3. Alongside the Mig-23MLA which is 11.3 in SB

I really wouldn’t trust Google, it’s better to check the manuals.
You can find the MiG-23ML manual on avialogs page (keep in mind that the values from the manual are for the plane with around 30% of fuel).
And about the F-5E turn rate, just look for the “FWS” which has that info.
There are also American documents which compare the F-5E, F-4, F-100, F-104 and F-105 with the MIG-21

It’s because the source for the MiG-21bis was for “full power”, not “emergency power mode”.
The one for the MiG-23 is correct, unless it has some kind of “emergency power mode” as well.

true ture

What about M/MF?
IIRC, they has same airframe with ML/MLA so, they should gets nerf as well.

We can hope .

Oh, why the Nerf at all? tHerE iS nO RUsSiAn biAs.

Mig-21 are still massively underperforming in AOA

Nah, it’s deserved, the things just a piss missile anyway. The swing wing is already a massive pro of the vehicle, not to mention the R-24R is almost un-notchable. It’s essentially going to preform like a delta wing from my understanding now.

In the manual it says that the plane should have 6.5G limit with wings fully out when it carries a full air-to-air loadout + around 40% of fuel.
That can be quite brutal, even with the 1.5 multiplier (9.75G, lower than the F8U from WT in similar condition, I tested it and it could reach 11.5G before breaking its wings with 42% of fuel and 4x AIM-9D)

F8U is quite known in WT for the fact that it’s snapping its wings very often and the G-load for the MiG-23 will be 2G lower for wings fully out.
So could be snapping its wings even more often when you start to fly with manual wing angle controls.
No changes to the 45 deg (or 50%) position, so the default one when you fly with automatic wing controls.

  1. Just avoid the launch angle and 2. better yet, sometimes I just climb over them and force them to switch to LD/SRC to track me and that makes them chaffable.

You guys are crying when there is no nerf and now also when there is a nerf ? Are you ever happy ?

Frankly I’m convinced the only reason this performance correction wasn’t done earlier is because they hadn’t yet released the next top tier USSR premium. Presumably that is changing with this coming patch and that’s why this correction has finally been decided to go through. Won’t cut off their golden goose until the next one has hatched. If it had been a tech tree plane in any other tech tree would have gone through immediately.

This is why I’m grinding away like hell in my ml right now. Because I think you’re absolutely right. Got to make sure I get my money’s worth before the Nerf.

I’ll sit on the deck in my harrier, and won’t be able to dodge it, compared to the AIM-7 which will hit the ground really easily. Harrier flies like a brick anyway.
