Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 is Crashing the Game

I am trying to use the sidewinder force feedback 2, i just started playing the game and was setting my joystick controls up. As soon as I try to input pitch it crashes my game. This seems to be occuring frequently as you can see from these posts.

Not frequently, but seems to be a pattern, its a 10+ year old joystick so lol i can’t say frequently.

Hi,

If im not mistaken the workaround is disable ffb. But i could be wrong. Search in the old forum for your problem.

After quite a bit of research and testing myself I came up with this method.

  1. I always start the game with the Joy disconnected (not in USB). Otherwise it crashes.
  2. In the control, I select the note (deletes the entire control).
  3. If the game asks me, I confirm mouse control (extended or simple). Or I go back to the control and select DEFAULT SETTINGS
  4. I go on a test flight. any plane
  5. I connect the JOY to USB. The game does not crash.
  6. On the runway or in the cockpit, I go back to the control menu and here I confirm control using the JOY, not the keyboard (such an icon with JOY).
  7. Then the control configuration is offered and in the “roller” menu I expand JOY and look for a JOY called Saitek X55 (somehow another JOY is called that and our Sidewinder2 is logically not there).
  8. I click on the key layout (button) and the key settings are displayed. I do not change anything and return to the game (cockpit, runway…). Our control does not work yet.
  9. I go to the control again and select UPLOAD configuration file (such a folder) and select something ZIRA.BLK. The control is loaded in the form of our control that we use. If you do not have a BLK configuration file (hotkeys backup), you must set the control manually.
9*. Return to the game with the continue button and it should not crash and that’s it. Done.
  10. I’m flying, Great*
  • It also happened to me that after the first loading of our control after point 9. it seemed to twitch and the rudder pulled extra to the left. This is fixed by returning to the base from the runway
A new test flight is already OK. The network game is already OK.
    :)
