Merkava Mk. 2D at 9.7

its at 9.3 and its armour is better than most other MBTs at the BR

Compared with most of the 9.3 BR premium vehicles, Merkava is fine, but considering this BR range still suffer from compression, I strongly asked for BR decompression, even though there is almost no difference with Merkava 2D/B, like Rookicat(105) and MTTD

10.7 MBTs use to face 9.0 tanks, I think 9.3s were largely fine against them with few exceptions [XM-1].

Otherwise Merkava Mk2D at 9.7 seems like a fine decision.

Every tech tree in War Thunder has at least good 9.3 lineups, and Israel isn’t missing out with 2D being 9.7, which to be fair it is superior to the 9.3s of Israel as well.

@Chocolate_Pasta
What compression? It’s been decompressed twice, and 9.3 is the healthiest BR in the game at this time.
Also there are massive differences between the Rooikat 105 and MTTD, so much so that I abandoned the trash that was MTTD.

decompressed twice, and then 9.7 is almost empty, healthiest BR is the best joke for me today.
I‘m glad I didn’t purchase Rooikat 105 after test MTTD, it was the best LT at 9.3 I have ever played

The Merkava Mk.1A is at 9.0

thats even more unbalanced then

i mean we got M-48s with stab, paper add on at 9.3 lol, merk is way better than them

The Merkava Mk.2D should receive M426 to compensate for the higher BR than the 1B/2B, currently the only difference is composite triangles.

For example the Merkava Mk.3B and 3D are the same BR despite them being in the same situation as the 2B/2D.

I don’t understand why the Merkava 2D doesn’t receive that ammunition, since it is the last model of Merkava 2, and it is later than all the Magach that do carry the M426.

From what I can remember it gets M111 and no thermals hence its lower BR compared to the 9.3 Merkava.

And the M48 Super is fine at 9.3, it gets a better engine, transmission, thermals, and DM33

I’d want the tank to become 10.0 if that occurred. M413 is already meta for 9.7 as-is.
Also the Mk2B and Mk1B have significantly weaker turrets.

@Chocolate_Pasta
If you think MTTD, the worst 9.3 light vehicle, is “best”… lol
Its optics are bad, it has no smoke, it’s a wheeled vehicle.
Centauro 105 at the same BR is superior to it by having smoke, and the rear wheels turning.

BegleitPanzer IS the best 9.3 light tank cause it’s 9.3.
VCC-80/60 is easily 2nd best.

TAM-2IP, 2S25, Type 89, CV9030FIN… all light tanks I’d always take over MTTD with its poor mobility [yes, I know it’s a drag car], lack of smoke grenades, etc.

Imo the Merk 2D is fine as it is. It’s not too strong, but it’s also not too weak. When I first got it I also thought it was bad, but I got used to it and started getting better with it’s performance, mostly just having problems with it’s front mounted engine and speed.

The “worst” Lmao
No smoke, but ESS,
It has a much faster reversing speed, the only one which has DM33 and TVD at 9.3
The fastest quick autoloader at 9.3.
10 degree gun depression.

The optics are same with Centauro, no idea why you think it’s bad, it is even much better than VEXTRA,
Begleitpanzer and VCC-80/60 are not the same thing, and should not be considered

TAM2IP/2S25? They are the Joke, Compared with smoke grenades, I always prefer ESS at this BR, using ESS and setting a trap to those MBTs is enjoyable.

Thermals see through ESS.
And before you mention thermals, their two use cases are smoke and forests.
Cities and open maps thermals are far less useful.

Which is why my intent before FV4030/3 was to get the 9.3 light tank.

But yeah, Merkava Mk2D is balanced at 9.7.

I think Merkava Mk.2D should be 9.7… but with the historical M426 shell (already available on many 9.3s), instead of being artificially limited to M111.

Then it would be able to deal with 10.7s more reliably while not stomping on 8.3s as it would do if it were lowered to 9.3.

That’s why I use ESS as a trap for low-tier tanks

City maps are much more useful instead of forests, it is used to make the enemy believe they can forward. using ESS and then reverse, using thermals to wait for them to move forward.

I won’t play 9.7 only for FV4030.

And due to Merkava M2KD is 9.7, I prefer MK2B, which is almost same but 9.3

The best solution for the moment is to give it M426 (DM63 105mm) which was used around this time period as is seen on numerous Magach variants in the Israeli ground tree.

As it stands, the Merkava Mk.2D is a worse Merkava Mk.2 at .3 BR higher than the others. It gains slightly more composite armor that has practically no affect ingame (due to the fact gaijin thinks Israeli composite armor is weaker than friggen rubber fabric screens) and just makes the tank slower overall. It does in fact need something to change, or go down in BR.

It doesn’t make sense that it’s at 9.7 while the others are 9.3 but Israel probably has the best 9.7 lineup in game with the sabra, ayit and ah1g, now only if they would move the imp chaparral to 9.7

It would be appreciated if the added armor of the Merkava 2D worked correctly.
That’s a curious thing about Israeli tanks, for example the Merkava 3 have the same Br when they are tanks years apart, especially the 3D that is still in service. And then there are many tanks in the same Br, for example in Br8.0 it has like 7 or 8 tanks, and in 9.3 a few too.
