I agree, the ahistorical lineups are frustrating.
A change I would love to see implented (both in Nuclear Escalation and ground sim) is:
- Allowing players to choose whether they want to queue in blufor or redfor, similar to the Infantry beta tests
- Splitting tech trees into these 2 options via their subtrees. This would look something like:
- USA (BLUFOR) and Iran (can queue for both as it is only 1 vehicle, but the option being available would be nice)
- Germany (BLUFOR) and East Germany (REDFOR)
- USSR (REDFOR)
- Great Britain (BLUFOR) and India+South Africa (both, as they explicitly hold non-aligned positions)
- Japan (BLUFOR) and Thailand+Malaysia+Indonesia (both, as they all hold non-aligned positions)
- China (REDFOR) and Taiwan (BLUFOR)
- Italy (BLUFOR) and Hungary (REDFOR, but only rank 7 and below)
- France, Sweden, Israel (BLUFOR)
It’s not perfect but I think it’s a lot better than what we have right now.
Thats also WW2 era SPAA, not including stuff such as the M163
Yeah, in the files, the vietnam bracket is just designated “1970’s” so something like the A-10 (which I hear people complaining about not fitting a lot) is actually period appropriate. It entered service in 1977. The SU-25 however, that just barely is outside of the 1970’s. It underwent combat testing in 1980 and entered service in 1981.
Someone has to play the bad guy during the Exercise Red Flag.
I did say it was just radarless SPAAs only and not any early radar ones
Good start indeed, but everything without search radar should get this too, notably M163 and SIDAM, for example. Maybe even ZSU-23-4, not quite sure about that one…
Yeah… Unfortunately.
Though funny when a pair of FA2 evades bluefor and starts kill all their attack aircraft
ZSU-37 and 23 cant see stuff as small as bombs and missiles on their radars so they shouldnt be able to target them
Well, I don’t quite get why on one have there’s the notion that WT does not match vehicles according to history / dates but capabilities, and also countries are not matched according to history (today even impossible with subtrees of historically opposing blocs in the same trees), and on the other hand having balanced vehicles (concrete examples here the missing CATOBAR carriers of RED…), because it would look strange.
I find it also strange that in Sim EC I use my A-10 to kill Abrams and Bradleys… ;-)
See thats why gaijin doesn’t have the AI use radars since it’s inferior to good old Eyeball MK.1
Naturally yes, these are all internally tracked satistics which are evaluated to make decisions on.
Matchmaking sats of this kind are not public however, if that’s what your asking.
What if I said pretty pls
That is actually one of the things I put into my big feedback post
Hopefully they don’t just do one of these

Of course.
But when you are saying: “Matches are made without Britian on the Red side. Plenty of games have taken place as such.”, it would be natural to quantify “plenty”. The general theme for the last iteration ,based on my own experience and from others posted in this thread, Britain was far more often than not paired with USSR.
Its understandable that the team composition is changed for matchmaking purposes, but some parts of the rosters should change aswell to accomodate the change in team composition. Such as the aircraft carriers for example.
I hope this can be looked into and made possible!
I can also corroborate this. Despite pairing with only one other person, as US and UK, of some 100-150 runs done during the last window between the two of us (both together and separate), we only got 1 match running those two nations together… and that required us connecting to a US server (based on my ping) during off peak hours, into a match that was just starting.
I highly doubt that is the case, when even solo queueing separately had around only 10 organic matchups at best.
Do we need to have name tags considering the primary focus is ground, like grb? There’s already so many radars up it kinda makes them all pointless.
Maybe now would be a good time to add friendly datalink. It would be an excuse to add AI AWACS that would allow players to turn their own radar off and dramatically cut down in RWR torture. This incentivizes taking out radar sites early on and should reward plenty of sl/rp for doing so.
Yeah a system like this would be great and fix the weird issue of e.g. China and Taiwan fighting together while also helping out the match maker balance. A much better solution than just regressing to the system we have in GRB for example where its random nations. I really dislike that system.
i got the twitches from withdrawal, someone send help…

Would be nice if you let utility helicopters do logistical gameplay, like transporting resources from the airfield to SAM sites or vehicles factories.
