you crazy
I think this F/A-18F can be added. It was manufactured and had its first flight after Boeing received the order from Germany. Although Germany ultimately chose the F-35A, this aircraft is real. For the same reason that the Mi-28A was added for Sweden, this F/A-18F can certainly be added as well.
That’s not true. Where did you get info that the German Air Force had achieved the first flight with the F/A-18F with German markings? They physically do not acquire any F/A-18Fs as of now!
Also, this image seems to be photoshopped and, hereby, fake. I did a reverse image search, and it showed only one result on the first page. So this is false information.
germany did extensive testing and trials with the F/A18A but decided against it
that one would fall under the same rules like the swedish stuff for implementation
Of course its a legacy hornet with sarh etc
the later hornet variants were in consideration by germany as well and tested by germany on the different ILA airshows to replace the tornado. but in a way lesser extend and not enough for implementation i would say
I don’t think it’s the F/A-18A they tested before, but it was the F/A-18B that WTD61 did the trials with the dual-seat variant in the early 1980s. If it’s the F/A-18B you talked about, then, yeah, it would make sense. However, I was pointing out that German representatives haven’t flown the F/A-18F Super Hornet unless proved otherwise.
30+32 is a Typhoon, not F/A-18F. Luftwaffe never received F/A-18F for test purpose.
Just because some aircraft have been to an airshow doesn’t mean they’ve been tested there.
I am aware, but the hornets were as part of the tornado replacement programmd.
They werent trialed, only tested during a brief period and thats why they shouldnt count for implementation
Could you please provide a reliable source about it?
Exactly. Only being evaluated or tested shouldn’t be basis enough to get implemented in WT (yes, I’m aware there have been precedents, and no, I personally never found this a good idea…).
If evaluation and test would be enough for addition to WT, Switzerland could almost have its own full tree with A-7D, Milan, A-4S, G.91YS, Saab 105, Saab 35, Mirage 2000, F-16, Rafale, Gripen, Typhoon, Mystère, F-86, Alpha Jet and even the He 112…

Like i said tested/evaluated not trialed
I’m sorry, but where does it say that Germany “tested” the F/A-18E/F? It only mentions that the F/A-18E/F is one of four available aircraft.
Buddy i dont understand why you are arguing with me to begin with. I said i donr want them implemented.
They have been tested/evaluated as tornado replacements. In multiple ILAs look it up jesus.
The whole debate for german to get f/a 18s went over quite some time
I’ve wanted to be a little strict on this. Sorry for the offense.
So if we would get it, what kind of suspended A2G weaponry we could expect? Yea, yea, Switzerland only used it for air superiority, but that surely wouldn’t be a reason for them not to give it any A2G munitions, right? Right?
If it didn’t use anything it won’t have anything for A2G :)
Any armament that was available on the F/A-18C/D before January 1996 will work. However this is pretty much theoretical, so it’s entirely up to the developers.
tell that the the thai alpha jet that never had mauser cannons
gajin stated already stated that armament options dont need to have been equipped
It will :)
Ok, based on all the discussion we had. Just met with a former airforce pilot colleagues for a beer. We had a chat about the introduction of HMD in SAF.
The first F-18 delivered in 1997 had HUD only. Like I recalled right, the first helmets we received in 2006, but these were on the same helmets that we received later as part of UP21 (2012 -2016). In 2012 we got new helmets in conjunction with the AIM-9X. This is the reason why, when I was in the F-18 pit in 2006, I had HMD.
With regards to A/G our F-18 Hornet could be modified and the A/G wing pylons restored. The problem are the wings, which Switzerland built themselves and the large use of titanium for essential parts. We don’t have the airframe to carry heavy ordenance. The cockpit and weapons computer is fine.
