McDonell Douglas F-4N Phantom II

+1 I hope F-4N won’t get AIM-7F Sparrow and would be 11.3 BR at rank VII between F-8E Crusader & F-4J Phantom II if F-4J move to rank VIII at 11.7 before F-14A Early and gaijin buff AIM-7F lock range to 50 km on F-4J

I imagine that since F-4Ns served into the 1980s, they could use both the AIM-9L and AIM-9M

9Ls for sure, idk about 9Ms but probably cause if it used 9Ls then it could mount 9Ms right?

Yeah, 9L and 9M I think had almost identical wiring/launch rail, if not the exact same. The first versions of each missiles weren’t even all that far apart, timeline wise lol

I’ll add em to the list of weaponry

But my personal opinion, I might hope F-4S late with Air-to-Air armament 80’s better F-4N because radar, engine and leading-edge slats good maneuvrability like F-4S in premium tree. but F-4S late located before F-14A Early ?

F-4N equipped AN/APQ-72 radar & J79-GE-8 from F-4B but Air-to-Air Missile close to F-4J except AIM-7F Sparrow. but armed AIM-9H sidewinder

+1, a good candidate to add at 11.0-11.3 BR with AIM-9H and AIM-7F. I can see this in a folder with F-4B Phantom II (if that is added already), or it can be added as an event/squadron. Either way, I support this regardless because I want to see the rest of the Phantom family added to the game.

Hey, if you wanna be technical about it I bet you could use AIM-9M in an A-4B and the missiles would probably work just fine, the issue here is that weapons are a tool to balance the plane.

The big question is if it’s worth to have an F-4N or an F-4B since they are too similar, and having an F-4N premium when there’s already the F-4S makes little sense.

Wish this could replace the F-4S so the S could get 9Ls and be shifted over to TT at 12.3

Wouldn’t mind that, honestly lol

While Phantoms would be great, the Phantom’s time is over due to Gaijin’s amazing job at balancing the game.

Trading PD for 9Ls means more beginner friendly and then of course the US has its ultimate Phantom as TT instead of a direct pay-to-win premium upgrade over the TT counterpart. Unfortunately almost impossibly unlikely to happen.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this aircraft in the game!

If it can get AIM-9Ls and/or Ms it should be 11.3 at least like the 4J

Air-to-air
IR missiles

  • AIM-9B Sidewinder
  • AIM-9C Sidewinder
  • AIM-9D Sidewinder
  • AIM-9G Sidewinder
  • AIM-9H Sidewinder
  • AIM-9L Sidewinder
  • AIM-9M Sidewinder (?)

Semi-active radar homing missiles

  • AIM-7D Sparrow
  • AIM-7E Sparrow
  • AIM-7E-2 Sparrow
  • AIM-7F Sparrow

12.0 seems fair

Would make a nice TT counterpart of the premium F-4S and keep F-4B low below that BR.

AN/APQ-72 is not pulse doppler if I recall. It took for the F-4J for that to be added.

If they add it, it would be an opportunity to add the simulated doppler inputs for the non PD F-4s. Would be a great addition as that gives very limited look down performance, with it having trouble once the target gets very low altitude.

Ever had your sparrow just start chasing another dude? It’s kind’ve taking advantage of that effect.

It works via painting the area in front of you with your radar, you select what aspect the Sparrow searches for, you fire it, when fired, it will use it’s doppler seeker head to look in a specific speed gate/range. Once a target is acquired, it will track the target. The only issue is that you’re basically letting it rip and whoever it tracks, it tracks.
So instead of having a doppler radar, you use the doppler seeker head in your missile.

+1 don’t see why not

I’m guessing APQ-72 is even worse than the F-4C’s APQ-100, so if the F-4N gets 7Fs and 9Ms it could prolly function fine at 11.7 or 12.0.

Pronably not 9Ms. But 11.7 seems to be a good metric as that’d the aircraft somewhat equal to Mig-23s
