In game, that makes sense, because its better to have the few that cant Catobar take off with Catobar, than limiting it to only aircraft that can ramp take off, but yeah, in test flight its really annoying. Especially as ramp carriers work for the soviets
Since when?!? I never saw a Harrier in WT do a catapult take off…
I understand the reason for disabling the fire with the LMB. But disabling all other mouse buttons forces to use the keyboard and add at least more 3 keybinds.
The thing is, the Yak-38 doesn’t get catobar takeoff because of the carrier it spawns on. I believe wether a plane gets catobar or not entirely depends on the carrier rather than on the plane.
Edit: the Su-33 also doesn’t get catobar, so I believe the Kuznetsov is programmed to not provide catobar either
So they made aim9x smokeless now but also screwed up high off bore shots it doesnt even turn for the target now lol.
Sarcasm?
Yeah, in test flight it gets a unique carrier that requires a VTOL take off. The Su-33 gets a ramped carrier.
But the SHar just has Ark Royal which is a catobar carrier and so takes off with catobar, even though I think HMS Hermes or HMS Illustrious is actually modeled in game.
In an actual match like ASB, Bluefor always have HMS Ark Royal and Redfor always has USS Forestal (which is really really unfair because Ark royal has no AA and Forestal has insanely powerful AA) , both Catobar and so bluefor and redfor aircraft, no matter what, have catapult launches.
Anyone else seeing the HUD gunsights inside of cockpits being way too sensitive after you lock a target? Seems to be happening when locking a target through radar/IRST or even just using the Lock Target keybind in Common.
Tested with J35XS
F-84B-26
F-15E
big if true
and still no buffs for Vanguard either it seems
FCS is identical to Hood’s still and still has a 30 second reload not the 25 she should have.
Rather hard to justify her being 8.0 at the moment
No, really never saw it when I flew Harriers off carriers.
But the US never had a ramped carrier, and operated the Harrier just fine.
(Note: doesn’t mean I wouldn’t prefer the proper carriers for the proper nations and aircraft, of course…)
One of said airframes being part of the NEW MAP being added. Seriously adding the falklands without having the correct VERY EASY fixes to the harriers (EEGS for the SHar, and Smokeless engines for all of them) its just basic basic stuff. But just ignore them i guess…
2000 “historically accurate vehicles” btw
I dont think its animated, but you get acclerated up to 200+ kts instantly whenever you take off from a carrier in a harrier.
iirc, they were longer and they make full use of the entire length of the runway. it also quite heavily impacted their max warload. The FRS1 for example could get airbourne at max weight, I dont think the AV-8Cs ever did.
Harrier 809
It was also a lot easier on the pilots
The US didn’t, but the UK, Spain and Italy all did (and still do). The ramps significantly reduce the take-off distance for most naval planes, not just Harriers. India even modified a Kiev class to include a ramp not just for their Sea Harriers, but also for their MiG-29Ks, even though neither needs a ramp.
I believe the US did look into ski-jump take-off and were impressed by the much shorter take-off the Harrier IIs could perform on the Italian Tarawa class carriers. They also built land based ramps for F/A-18s iirc
I have to try again, maybe it’s not the case in Sim…
Map and vehicle developments have no relation whatsoever. Map teams and artists are entirely seperate from vehicle devs. We add new locations every update.
Im not sure where the idea of this connection came from.
Definetly the same in SB. Was playing the SHar 2 days ago and Harrier Gr1 Yesterday. Both are the same on take offs
Do the map and vehicle team not communicate?
“were gonna add the falklands map, the british people will love this”
“ahh, the SHar domination ground… yeah were not fixing any of its issues this update just because we cba. cool enjoy the new map losers with your broken aircraft”
All teams communicate. Not in the way you insinuate however.
Its a massive oversimplification to simply water the Falklands down to just “Shar domination ground”. Decisions are not taken in that way.
The Locations has huge historical significance and has taken many months to develop. This is entirely seperate from any one aircrafts outstanding reports or suggestions. The map is not just for Harriers.
Still a tad shame that it wasnt even paired with a GE skin for the FRS1e though.
But anyway. Im just wondering if the Falklands is going to get Scaled up to its IRL size and added to SB still
