Japan didn’t get left out per se. I mean it depends how good the Type 81 arh is, which is just not functional atm

They did get left out of getting a medium range SAM. The ARH Type 81 has the same range as the IR Type 81, 14km, which is short range. SLM, SLAMRAAM and SPYDER are medium range.

And people are defending it too, like mate, R-77-1s are not some OP missile that teleports right into your plane. I have dodge more R-77-1s in one day than I have AIM 120s for the past few months.

There’s, quite literally, no vehicle at top tier which isn’t gimped in some form.
And frankly, planes are not dodging a 40G missile. Is it that deep?

Yes it is that deep when the Elde/SLS is still 60G
And they’re at ~15km of range.
Personally, I’d make that trade.
77-1 just brought su 30 into a competitive position. It’s a lot worse than AMRAAMs in practice.

The SLM has forty kilometers (in theory) of horizontal range, plus twenty of altitude.
It has an effective range of 20KM.
It quite literally outclasses and outranges all A2G weapons in the game
