Major Update “Leviathans” — DEV Server Changelog (16.06.2025) - dev server is closed

From everything I’ve seen most of the new systems can counter Kh-38MT consistently. If you watched that one MatAWG video, I would like to point out that he kept accidentally locking onto the Kh-38MTs, and then complaining that his radar was doing that instead of targeting the aircraft. Several times he could have saved himself but just didnt. A few times he mistakenly launched at the Kh-38MTs and destroyed them.

I don’t think that video was made in bad faith or anything, but I do think he doesn’t realize high tier SAM systems need to target the missiles and not the planes primarily, to keep yourself and teammates alive.

I do think its very stupid that pantsir was the only system comparable to these for so long. I wish gaijin had made the decision to bite the bullet and start implementing multi-vehicle SAMs sooner.

I also think its stupid that Italy still has no top tier SAM. At least France’s Crotale isn’t completely helpless at defending itself from missiles, but its still also far from ideal.

Idk mate. I’m watching Su30’s absolutely clown on SLM’s & Spyder.

These things look hopeless.

In the testing I’ve watched, It’s far easier for a Su30 to intercept a Spyder’s missiles with R77’s, than it is for Spyder to intercept 38MT’s.

We’re also not really making any progress, because at best, all these SAM’s can do is hope to delay the inevitable and buy themselves time by intercepting AGM’s. None of them are actually capable of engaging the plane launching those AGM’s (unless the pilot is bad and gets too close).

The dynamic is still going to be incredibly one sided and unfair. The issue we currently have of Su30’s getting the first strike off with no threat to self will still happen.

Oh god. I didnt even think about that tactic.

Fire a Kh-38MT at the launcher and then fire R-77-1s at the SAMs sent to intercept it

Some guy in the Spyder thread was testing this exact scenario. Su30 intercepted every single derby of his lol.

when we making mig 23 12.0 it should not be fighting 11.0s

yeah the only sam that was able to intercept kh 38 and gbu and jdams was the tan sam on my end
everything else was a complete miss
i saw my python 5 and irist miss an agm 130 that was still burning

here is a test with the tan sam kai against kh38

is the mg 151s getting changed they underperform damage wise rn

Ohhh the mg151

spark spark spark spark spark spark HIT! +10🦁 +5💡

Gaijin really needs to mess with German guns, they’ve been messed up by Realshatter for so long now that even just touching a Bf-109 feels like cancer

Yeah but that first strike matters a lot less if all your missiles get eaten. And if they have to fly home to rearm that’s one player out of the battle for a few minutes.

Also people don’t always necessarily know how to defend themselves properly in SAM systems. I run into clueless pantsirs all the time, who just keep shooting at my harrier while the single maverick I threw at them 2 minutes ago slowly gets closer.

I cant really judge any of the new systems properly until I get my hands on one myself, but what I’ve seen so far looks promising.

Nothing is really indicating these new AA’s are going to be capable of doing this though.

The general consensus is that they’re even worse at intercepting than the old SACLOS systems we already had - and those weren’t exactly fairing well under the AGM rain up to now.

What I’ve seen so far has made me despondent lol.

It can counter the Kh38, but it will not be able to touch the launch aircraft.

Which is a situation that only benefits the launch aircraft.

I would prefer a single M2 Browing over an MG 151 at this point. German props feel so bad to play compared to their US counterparts.

So, will be second DEV server open? Lots of things were not finished on first DEV server, and most of them were with bug report so we may need chance to supervise it.

I don’t think that’s the point of DevServer. Helping Dev’s find bugs is. From then on it’s on them what to do with the issues that were identified…

Well, than what if Dev’s fix it in wrong way. Only at this DEV server what we found was (Iowa’s shell room wrong again / Roma’s penetration wrong again / They make fire mechanism not matches to what they said).

…then simply report the issue for live server, that possibility we always have.

How can one think that the Devs need to do what the community think is right!!???
Its their choice to implement as they like to. And you can file a bug report, given it is a bug or accept the fact that the implementation might be fantasy and not like IRL.
If the devs think that an F-86K Ai can go at mach 1.5 so it be.

You can report, you can suggest and if you are paying for the game, you have a right to complain.

You can try to contribute to the improvements, but by no mean, you can expect it to happen, unless you are creative director of that company.

Is usually much slower than on DEV server. That’s another thing I’m worrying about.

I mean there are certain means you can use to get them to change things. It’s just that they are usually not doable as you need almost the entire community united to get it done.

Also, the weighting of the issues is very important, and very often not appreciated enough by the community (including myself, admittedly).

We all have our “pet issues” that we feel must by all means be corrected in what we think is Right.

Again, I’m no exception there: For me accuracy to reality is the main focus, and I don’t like unauthentic changes for the sake of game balance or gameplay. But I DO understand that there are many factors involved, and that those factors in some cases will go against my desires for the game.

Atm for me it’s the correctness of ordonnance the new Swiss aircraft are or are not getting that has me worried: Can be documented with reference more or less easily, but still may be subject to unrealistic decisions for gameplay and balance reasons.

Other issues are simply not important enough and carry little weight, because they are not gameplay relevant and of a more cosmetic nature. Also those, I -the authenticity buff that I am - would love to see fixed, but I’m fully aware resources spent on gameplay relevant issues will be better spent there than on “do the flaps of my beloved jet move the correct way?”.

Then there’s stuff that’s much more difficult to grasp: How does fire propagate through a warship? Nearly impossible to say what is right and what is wrong there, and again, game balance weights in heavily…

After all, a complex game like WT is like an equation with many, many, MANY variables, and all those variables have different weight and are extremely difficult to balance, due to completely understandable constraints.

And at some point there will always have to be someone who says “ok, here we decide to do it like this or like that” - and that are not the players.

And those decisions will never be 100% accurate and fitting reality perfectly, and of course never will be equally popular and accepted by the whole player community…
