Major Update “Leviathans” — DEV Server Changelog (16.06.2025) - dev server is closed

I can agree with you if we talk about “domestic” if the aircraft is fully developed in Switzerland.

For me, the F-18 wings are developed by RUAG, same as several other pieces. thats makes it unique and as such it is a “domestic” development.

How many Benelux developed aircrafts or tanks have you seen? Doesn’t matter, really.

Developed or produced? Because local production of some of it’s parts doesn’t make it a domestic aircraft.

Not saying that it shouldn’t be added, but calling it a domestic aircraft is a massive stretch.

There is a reason why people also complained about the benelux and Finish sub trees too.

We know how Gaijin does those things. So why complain every time they do it?

It’s their decision. Some agree with it, others object. In other things, other decisions, the players preferences may also be split. Well, that’s probably the case in almost all aspects of the game.

They can’t please everybody. Never will, as WT has become such a massive thing with so many different aspects, details, and of course design decisions.

In-game? The VL Myrsky and Pyörremyrsky, which also are premium for some stupid reason.

They built some more planes, like the Pyry and Vihuri, which hopefully don’t end up AS premium or event planes

This bit is somewhat true. The best course of action is just to not play vehicles you aren’t looking forward too.

Which is why I haven’t played vehicles in the Finish sub tree(s), only played a select few in the Hungarian/benelux sub trees and why I’m not planning on touching the Swiss sub tree in the years to come.

I just wish there was other stuff in the update to be excited about.

None, considering the tech tree

Fokkers are domestic Dutch planes and there is the G.IA in the French TT (and a D.XXI in the Swedish TT)

I know it’s up to debate but I still think this at least comes close:

Its absolutely your choice, if you want to play a vehicle or not. Like you can read about what I wrote about 8 years back, I only would like to have a lineup of what I like to fly, irrelevant of the tree. Grinding a tree for the sake of getting the aircraft you want, i just nuisance. That’s why the DCS or MSFS style is better. You want a bird pay and go.

Less is more. For me to have the right bird in high detail, like IRL is better than having huge amount of planes. Level-D sim system depth is my goal with the addition of a compelling playground.

In other words - if GJ would make everything a premium bird, for me perfectly fine, if I then get the level of details that I payed for. And hopefully with all button and switches clickable, all gauges 100% operational and startup time and IRS alignment simulated.

Eh… Almost not even worth me installing this update (metaphorically speaking)

They’ve not even fixed any major bug reports and the only new mechanic that sounded interesting is only coming to the F-111A

The biggest issue I have with Sub-TTs is they are meant to fix “holes” in trees and yet the ONLY TT hole i’ve seen bodged was the Gripen C for Britian and only until ARH was added at which point. We had no more hole.

Take the Badger for example. The Fox, Scimitar and even Warrior Milan are probably stronger IFVs to use, even with the uptier and the what we really really needed was either a top tier IFV like the Ajax or a top tier SAM like the Skysabre.

If they were smarter with what was added, a lot less people would be annoyed

Is that so? ( Or better, is that their sole or even main purpose?)

I more see them as places for additional vehicles that are (more or less) interesting to add…

I would love to be able to just buy the vehicles that I am interested in, but not at the prices Gaijin is charging for packs (the new Triple packs excluded, as they are pretty good value) and high rank vehicles.

Alternatively a subscription model that just lets you play all vehicles would be amazing. But I guess Gaijin doesn’t think that such a subscription would bring in enough money…

Except… Are they?

If you grinded the French Ground TT, you probably wanted to play the Leclerc, not the Leopard 2, if you had wanted those, you’d probably have grinded the German TT.

I dont think a single French main is happy to have Leopard 2 C&Ps in their TT, but would have probably rather enjoyed the Belgium Scimitar to bolster their IFVs as its a hole they have

To be fair, the Badger could have been amazing, Gaijin just chose the wrong variant.

The ZA subtree did fill more gaps than the other subtrees though, even if most of those gaps could have been filled with domestic British vehicles.

Eh… imo, it barely did.

Badger 2 or 3 years ago might have been really useful, but after the Fox, Scimitar and Desert Warrior, just seems like a waste of dev time and the Ajax would have been a lot better.

We still have a huge SPAA void between 5.3 and 8.3 and yet we have alternative ZA 5.3 and 8.3 SPAAGs to use. Instead of adding either or even both of those, could they have added a ZA SPAAG at 6.3/7.3?

and like you said, everything else could be fairly easily replaced by something domestic.

The SPAA gap could be smaller, if, you know, they got rid of the APDS on the Falcon (and nerfed and APHE a bit, I suppose). The Bosvark and Ystervark (as much as I dislike them for being fragile and unwieldy) are good alternatives to their British counterparts and the ZA-35 is overall much better than the Marksman (they should have given us the Chally Marksman instead of the Chieftain Marksman).

The autocannon Badger was never going to be a useful addition, even if we didn’t have the Fox and its useless brother, the Scimitar. The ZT3 Badger is the one that would have been great to have, as the ZT3A2 missiles are extremely potent ATGMs and having them on a vehicle that isn’t a Ratel would be great for high/top tier.

As for the gaps the ZA tree filled (imo at least), they provided a great howitzer before almost everyone got the M109 and they bring amazing light vehicles to a tech tree that apparently is only allowed to have (bad) auto cannon rats instead.

Yeah outside of the T-72B3A and the F-2A (which are both massively overdue vehicles that should have came forever ago) this update is looking like a massive let down.

Even the new SAM systems which I was looking forwards to are looking to be a massive letdown with how they are currently plus the fact we are expected to use them on maps like advance to the rhine and other small cqc maps.

Its basically just going to be Vanguard Grind for me and only if Soyuz doesnt ruin top tier like Scharnhorst did and I stick with just playing cruisers again

74km HMD/ACM, very nice
